Despitr some of the sci-fi/fantasy elements, it really played like a period character piece. Plus, they managed to get A LOT of content into 6 episodes.

I also agree the last episode felt a lot like some of the Dollhouse episodes (although it’s been ages since I watched that and not sure I ever finished - so fuzzy).

There was a lot of exposition to follow, and I’m not sure I got it all. If I understand correctly:
Spoiler:
at some unknown point in the future, the world has gone to crap. Uncertain if it was mankind's own doing, natural disasters, or some alien presence.

There appear to be some sort of factions, and some people have powers or operate in some sort of cast system. Some religious group (?), thinks destroying the alien will save humanity, while the group we’re following think they’re the savior.

The group discovers the wormhole is unidirectional and only goes to the past. After things go sideways, our main character (didn’t catch her name), kills herself only to be carried to the past and put into (dead?) Mollie’s body. However, she’s not a spore (?) person and can’t tell how things are supposed to go.

Also, it seems somebody else came back with her. Maybe a nemesis of sorts?

It also seems like she was responsible for Sarah getting carted off by the sketchy Dr who is working for wheelchair sister to bird man.

Whew that was a lot. I almost wish we hadn’t gotten the backstory and instead we’re left to wonder.
Just watched the final episode last night myself and I think you are pretty much on target with what you recapped in your spoiler tag. For the most part, that's what I got out of the episode as well. I like the show a lot. I think the leads are excellent and episode 6, in particular, really gave the Molly actress opportunity to show her range. I was surprised with the larger mythos introduced, but I enjoyed it. Looking forward to more.

I can't motivate myself to watch towards episode 5. I just felt bored, which is a first for a Joss Whedon show, if I don't count his contribution to Agents of SLEEP.
I really wanted to like the show although I didn't enjoy it at all.

Well quite a bit happens in episode 5, and A LOT happens in episode 6. Episode 6 has a very big tonal shift. I’d say watch those two. If you don’t care for it after 6 - drop it.

Felt exactly the same. There's too much fantastic TV on in this day & age to slog through mediocrity.

Love Joss and his past work but this show was a chore, not escapism.

I watched this over the past couple of weeks.

the two leads are excellent, particularly Laura Donnelly.

Enjoyed the curve it took with the final ep.

This is joining the others that are getting pulled from HBO Max.

No word where the final half of season 1 will air.

Wouldn't be surprised at all if they Batgirled this. There's zero chance it gets a second season, it's been nearly two years since the first half of season aired, and its associated with Joss Whedon.

I didn't even realize they had been able to film the last six. I enjoyed this show and look forward to seeing it completed, although somewhat apprehensively since I place a lot of importance in creator's vision and Whedon was not there for these. Still, I'll watch it for sure.

I enjoyed the first six, with the caveat that I never got into any of the other Whedon series.

I have the next 6 queued up to watch with my wife.

The back 6 are not available on demand legally unless you happened to catch those crazy Tubi live streams mid-afternoon weeks again.

I realize that. When Tubi did their stupid 'live only in the middle of the day' thing, I just waited and torrented them.

Re: The Nevers (HBO) -- created by Joss Whedon -- premieres 4/11/21

At this point I am hoping that they might release the last half of season 1 on disc so I can see it. Did not get a chance to see it on tubi since you had to watch it live and the times were not at all convienent.

I wonder if there is even a chance of them releasing it on disc when they dumped the episodes like they did.

Some bad news about this series from TVLine:

https://tvline.com/lists/chicago-fir...r-ncis-hawaii/

Any word on The Nevers‘ future home? Part 2 is still being broadcast on Tubi but no word on a proper streaming release or physical release? The episodes have been produced, it’s a shame to have them hidden from the audience like that. –D.

Sorry, D., but when a company takes a write-down on a series/movie as Warner Bros. Discovery did with The Nevers, no further revenue can be generated. Meaning, The Nevers can only live on FAST channels, and never be sold on DVD/Blu-ray/digital.

Re: The Nevers (HBO) -- created by Joss Whedon -- premieres 4/11/21

Only on FAST channels doesn't seem like much of a limitation. Those ads aren't revenue generating? It's just the stupid "live and only midday when I work" BS that I vociferously object to. Get this series to a provider I will actually watch.

So how is Disney able to sell the titles they took a write-down for on digital providers?
