I thought the "fall of Reach" storyline was much later in the Halo game series.

It’s an immediate prequel to the first game.

The action scenes were great but the rest of it I could take or leave. It really seems like they meant to have a 10th episode. Odd place to end a season.

I thought the last episode with the ex-Spartan and girl was good (sorry forgot their names), but was expecting their stories to intersect with MC

I would t be surprised if the first season was green lite to 18+ episodes, but they decided to spilt into two.

Way back in mid 2018 it was given a 10 episode order but cut to 9 by the end of that year. It seems they are slow playing it.

This may have been pointed out before, but it did come up in the finale.... they are saying, and apparently subtitles are also saying it, the Brute who took the artifact and who Cortana pointed out on the finale battlefield is Atriox . https://halo.fandom.com/wiki/Atriox

Dig the show, glad it turned out to be solid and entertaining, with an effort to make a compelling story instead of a brainless action show

I actually didn't mind her so much up until this Kwan-centric episode. I've been trying to finish the fight (this season) and no joke I've tried to watch this episode 3 times and keep falling asleep. And I never fall asleep watching TV.

As a somewhat side note I replayed through Halo 1-3 and it's a pretty solid story told over three games. I had forgot how they really flowed from one to the other. I wish they would tell more of a story like that but I understand that the games don't have the nuance that would be required for a TV show.

I’m not sure I follow. Games can have a great and nuanced story (Uncharted). It just seems like that was abandoned in Halo 4+?

The original developer, Bungie, made 1, 2, 3, OST and Reach. It’s a pretty comprehensive story. Halo 4 was kind of soft reboot. Like when a new show runner starts on a established TV show, it took the new developer awhile to find their footing. The newest game, Infinite, is their best storytelling.

Games certainly can have a nuanced story. Halo does not. I like the story and it works great for a shooter. But would never work for a TV show. It's basically shoot shoot shoot. Go to another place. Shoot shoot shoot. Oh the flood that's new. Shoot shoot shoot. Destroy one Halo. Shoot shoot shoot. Now I'm an elite. Shoot shoot shoot. Back to Master Chief. Shoot shoot shoot oh wait we're shooting brutes now. Shoot shoot shoot with the elites now. Shoot shoot shoot. Now the flood is with us. Shoot shoot shoot. Now the flood is against us. Giant worm. Shoot shoot shoot. Done. All interspersed with janky but fun driving segments. Not exactly made for TV. I still have the last two episodes to watch but I hope that we see more from the covenant side. I thought that was pretty cool how alliances changed as larger and larger threats loomed in the games.

There are a whole series of novels set in the Halo universe.

I was thinking the same until the credential of "Fear the Walking Dead" popped up.

I realize that. I was talking about directly adapting the story of the games to the TV show and how that wouldn't work.

So when is season 2 happening? A big gap between seasons 1 and 2 didn't work for Westworld and I doubt it works for Halo.

I mean it might work better here if season 1 is largely panned and they are changing things up.

Production for season 2 began on September 14, 2022

Breaking News - Paramount+ Announces "Halo" Season Two Start of Production | TheFutonCritic.com

They wrapped filming in May according to Pablo Schreiber

So most likely they are still in post production. It's only been 2 months since they wrapped.

Re: Halo: The Series (Paramount+) S: Pablo Schreiber -- premieres 3/24/22

They will be remembered. #HaloTheSeries returns Feb. 8, exclusively on Paramount+.

Master Chief John-117 leads his team of elite Spartans against the alien threat known as the Covenant. As humanity’s best hope for winning the war, John-117 discovers his deep connection to a mysterious alien structure that holds the key to humankind’s salvation, or its destruction — the Halo.
You can also watch the entire first season for free on YouTube.

Enjoyed season one… been waiting for season 2. No clue it was this close to release.

Re: Halo: The Series (Paramount+) S: Pablo Schreiber -- premieres 3/24/22

The first season is also available on Amazon Prime without commercials. I never played Halo but I thought the series was ok. I don't get all the hate for Kwan, although she did act stupidly at times. So there are only 4 Spartans in this whole universe. Seems like they should have more.

I think there are more Spartans. We are just focused on Master Chief and those connected to him.
