I'm glad the guys wife was dressed for the Hunger Games, should make for an interesting plot progression.

Agree - liked the second episode. The older escaped Spartan seems shady, but maybe that’s the point based on where he’s living.

Not sure what’s up with human (?) Covenant girl. Seems like maybe she’s John’s sister or something?

The crazy guy seen was well done. Not sure who played him, but helmets off.

I am surprised John came back so soon.

An entire season of Sparta on the run sounds fun.

In the games, I won’t call her evil. Cut throat, Machiavellian, arrogant….yes. The ends justify the means type of person and the ends here is the survival of the human race.

I thought the show was decent enough for what it was but it seems more like The Expanse than Halo.

I'm easy -- Spartans, Elites, and the Halo score are all I need to buy in. I'm just waiting for a Needler to make an appearance and I'll be all set.

But on the other hand, eh. It'd be really hard to make a series that was like the game due to general lack of human on-screen characters.
Yeah sure but even the games have been heavily criticized for their repetitiveness of just going from one group of covenant to another. That's the problem with adapting video games into movies is that most of what makes a video game a good video game doesn't translate at all to other media. I thought this show so far has been an excellent blend of paying off the fans of the games while setting up a much bigger and more involved story. We still got Master Chief being a kick ass spartan within the first 10 mins. I'm sure it won't be the last time either. But you can't just have that for 400 mins of TV. Is there any fandom that exists that isn't so obtuse?

All good so far. I've always liked Natascha McElhone, so that's a plus.

I found a workaround to decode Dolby Atmos using my APTV4K. It was tedious to get it going at first but the end results are fucking worth it.

Ep 3 was good. Cortana looks a bit off since they based her off of the actress playing Halsey, who though pretty, has a funny looking face to begin with...but I got used to her. They are also following the game lore in that she is based on Halsey's cloned brain(s). They did use the original Voice actress to voice her which is good.

I think people were assuming the wormlike creatures in promo scenes were Flood related, but I think they are the worms that make up the huge Hunters.

Yup Hunters. You could see the boots. They are made up of a colony of worms.

I don’t like Cortana being implanted into Master Chief brain and being able to have complete control (theoretically).

My suspicion is Cortana will eventually reject Halsey’s control and become the Chief’s ally.

I think Makee(sp?) is going to be an interesting addition to the HALO universe.

Yeah in the game she is a removable part of the Armor right? But then again, having her implanted makes the relationship more intimate

I've thought many a time while playing Halo, "You know, I wonder what Master Chief's butt looks like?".

Yup. She can also be transferred into other systems and be a ship’s A.I. There are long stretches were she is not there. Now it seems she is there 24/7 (or whatever the day cycle of Reach is.) It will be like a ticking bomb until she takes over Chief probably temporarily at least. It seems an avenue to create drama especially with Chief’s emerging trust issues. And then they make up. It seems to be predictable which is why I agree that Makee is a good addition to this new telling.

Re: Halo: The Series (Paramount+) S: Pablo Schreiber -- premieres 3/24/22

I watched the first episode of this and it didn't do much for me.

Feels a lot like a video game adaption. (duh)

I don't think I've ever really enjoyed a film based on a video game outside of the first Resident Evil movie, which I found to be watchable. Most of these projects fail for me with thin plots and forgettable characters.

IKR? We get his face and his butt in the first few episodes. It's way too much

But Lara Croft who we spend the entire game from a 3rd person perspective...nada, zilch, denied.

Re: Halo: The Series (Paramount+) S: Pablo Schreiber -- premieres 3/24/22

Soooo...and forgive me if this has been mentioned or is common knowledge already...I'm learning from a HALO TV Show Podcast that this show is the "Silver Timeline" which is not the same as the games. I mean it not being the same as the games is obvious. So this is a kinda of a deliberate Star Trek 2009 move by show runners so as not to fuck with the game timeline? OR is this just made up by Fandom to feel better about changes? I think the games and books may be the "Gold Timeline". If so, I can see why the Fanboys are losing their shit..but then again, they should be happy since that means "Their Halo" is still intact right? Who am I kidding, today's Toxic Entitled Fanboys are NEVER happy...

Yeah. They made this essentially non-canon... so basically a What If... prequel.

I don’t understand why they would do this especially since the Halo universe as a 20yr history of games, books, media, etc? It’s almost like Paramount doesn’t want people to watch. I guess you can just throw it on top of the pile with Trek.

Isn't that how all film and tv adaptions of things from other media work?

I can't really think of anything that is a 100% "canon" film or tv adaption of its source material.

Pretty much. They're just clarifying it's not the definitive prequel to the games.

Ep 4 was good A bit more of the other Spartans this time which is great. I know folks hate the Kwan story line but I'm enjoying it. I think it's gonna really pay off when characters meet up.

Re: Halo: The Series (Paramount+) S: Pablo Schreiber -- premieres 3/24/22

Do people care about Quan’s story at all? I just can’t figure where they’re going with it.

This show is all over the place. There are certain things about it which are good (mostly Master Chief’s story) but the rest of it seems confused and muddled. The edits during the fighting scenes were so laughably bad- and when that woman jumped out the window, I don’t even know what was going on there. Plus someone involved with the show has a butt fetish- the nudity seems tacked on, like someone said, “Hey, this show isn’t risqué enough, let’s add some pointless nudity to get some viewers”.

Re: Halo: The Series (Paramount+) S: Pablo Schreiber -- premieres 3/24/22

Kwan Ha is, as was predictable, an idiot. She repeatedly exposes her full head and face to public view, which is not merely stupid when you’re a fugitive, but unnecessary, since she did so in front of people who knew who she was and wouldn’t need her to do that to recognize her.
