I really like her, I'm happy with that choice.

I love Holly! Look forward to seeing her in this.

I kinda wish they'd bring along Rayner. I'd hate to lose him due to Discovery ending. One off character Hy'Rell would be fun to see every once in a while on the show. People seem to LOVE her.

Hate to say this, but I'm kind of getting Lorca/Shaw vibes off of Rayner, where he's a really great character who isn't going to survive the season.

Re: Future Star Trek TV projects discussion thread - News, rumors, etc.

This is very promising news. For one it shows they care enough about the project to go through the hassle and cost of securing good talent. And two hopefully it shows it won't be the Tilly show. I might be one of the few that actually like Tilly. I wouldn't call myself a fan but I don't mind it when she's on screen. But she's not a lead. She plays best when against Burnham. So hopefully she'll have someone she can play off of for this show. Also hopefully the tone won't be completely aiming at the young teen crowd. Still not thrilled that it's set in the future. I'd rather see a much younger, less technologically dependent Starfleet. Plus, even though I've enjoyed the last two seasons of STD they still haven't made the future a very compelling place to tell more stories.

I guess it moved the needle for me from apprehensive to slightly apprehensive.

But to do as a Disco spinoff just feels...like a major missed opportunity.

The only cool thing I could see is if they take advantage of that rebuilt Enterprise D bridge set that they saved and whatever TOS Enterprise bridge set they probably still have hanging around, and use those as holodeck settings for lessons, maybe give us a different perspective on classic episodes.
I always wished they could do a Young Picard version of a Starfleet Academy show. They could've had George Takai's Sulu as an instructor at the Academy while Picard was attending. It would have been a great way to bridge the gap between both generations. But now Takai's getting a little too old to play the part.
