Seems like at some point they will be able to get AI to do most of the work. I'm not talking about shitty HD upscaling. I mean set an AI loose on the original film footage and have it select out the right cuts to edit into episodes again. That'll just leave the new HD-rendered CGI. That still won't be cheap, but it might put the whole project on a low enough budget that it can be justified financially.

...and Very Short Trek number two:
0-2.
Yeah, these are terrible.
I guess we know what the SNL writers are doing during the strikes to buy their drugs now.

I'm liking the animation. It's really spot on to the TAS. I like that they've gotten the original actors back in their roles and cool seeing the SNW Enterprise in that style. It's nice to see Hemmer again. Fun to see the STD crew in TAS style. And I appreciate them taking a What...if? approach to Start Trek. Something definitely noncanon that can explore characters and situations without the burden of canon.
All that being said....WTF ARE THEY THINKING???!!! Ok the first one I didn't hate too much. It was just a bit of fun and really short so sure why not have some juvenile humor. Now this next one is basically the same premise just way way worse. It's just not even funny. Not even a little bit. And even thought it's only 4 minutes long it just feels like it goes on forever because it's just so awkward. I mean I get that they're trying to be funny with it and trying something new but honestly it just comes off as being disrespectful. It's like their saying TAS was just such a cringy cheesy Star Trek show, and yeah sure it was to some degree but that's not all it was.

Hologram short Trek received some chuckles, and I appreciate the breadth of the cast they got. However, the ending is just dumb. How does somebody think that’s funny? Completely takes you out of it.

Yeah I watched the second thinking it might be better but these very short treks are horrible. Animation and casting are fine but the juvenile scripts

It's as if the producers brought on top-quality production and casting, then asked their 13-year-old kids to write the script.
