FX has set the premiere date for its new dance musical series Pose, which will debut on Sunday, June 3, 2018 at 9 PM et/pt on FX. Pose was co-created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Steven Canals, with Murphy directing the first two episodes. The series is executive produced by Murphy, Falchuk, Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson, Alexis Martin Woodall and Sherry Marsh. Canals is a co-executive producer, and Janet Mock, Our Lady J and Erica Kay also serve as producers. The eight-episode first season is produced by Fox 21 Television Studios and FX Productions. Set in the 1980s, Pose explores the juxtaposition of several segments of life and society in New York: the ball culture world, the rise of the luxury Trump-era universe and the downtown social and literary scene. Evan Peters and Kate Mara play New Jersey couple "Stan" and "Patty," who get sucked into the glamour and intrigue of New York City in the 1980s. James Van Der Beek plays Peters' financial kingpin boss "Matt."

I'm kind of curious what kind of ratings FX expects out of a show like this. It looks very well made but the subject matter looks like a hard sell.

Usually I would be all over FX programs and I enjoy most of Murphy's work, but this show doesn't interest me at all. That trailer didn't sell me on it either. I really doubt this subject will appeal to many, especially in this forum.

I would probably have watched at least one episode if they hadn't fired Tatiana Maslany. Now...eh. Murphy is hit and miss for me.

This will rate as high as Ryan Mutphys “Katrina” series. Which is to say, nothing at all.

Thought this was pretty good. However, the 90-120 minute premieres/finales and/or double episode premieres/finales trend needs to end. Not needed.

I really wish all networks would ban that practice but apparently it works for their advertisers. Many shows are "pre-sold" to advertisers and the first airing almost always gets the highest ratings. So I don't expect the trend to disappear.

0.2 in the demo, 688,000 viewers for the premiere.
Roughly on par w/ Legion S2's first episode.

Very surprised. But I guess FX wants to hold on to as much Murphy as they can before he leaves for Netflix.

It's doing much better than Legion (whose Season 2 finale pulled a 0.12)
Plus I think it's pulled on new advertiser(s), every time I watch the Simpsons on FXX now every other ad is for the HIV-prevention pill, which started around the same time as Pose.
All that said, I still haven't watched any of this, any good?

The ten-episode second season of Pose will debut on Tuesday, June 11 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX. Pose explores the juxtaposition of several segments of life and society: the underground ball culture, the rise of the luxury Trump-era universe and the downtown social and literary scene that came to define New York in the 1980s. The first season of Pose was named an AFI TV Program of the Year and earned two Golden Globe(R) nominations and a Writers Guild of America nomination. Season 2 flashes forward in time to 1990. On the heels of the ballroom community establishing itself in pop culture and going mainstream, the House of Evangelista is forced to reevaluate their goals. Meanwhile, the AIDS crisis worsens and the reaction from a group of activists reaches a fever pitch.

Always wanted to see this but i don't have regular cable/sat. S1 is on Hulu or Netflix so hoping to watch soon and will watch s2 next year when it hits streaming. I'm a big Billy Porter fan.
But yeah, wouldn't expect many here to follow this show.

Sad to see it go but appreciate that they feel like they've told the story they wanted too.
