I know Penguin wanted revenge against Tabitha, but he and Butch were buds at one point. If it weren't for that, I'd buy his elaborate plan to exact revenge on her. Are we going to have to watch Selina in rehab next season or will she receive some kind of miracle drug? Maybe Ivy's plants can heal her? So glad we're done with Ra's Ah Ghul and Solomon Grundy. Do you think Bullock will survive next season with it being the last one?

Great episode, one of the best in the series IMO. It makes you wonder how much screen time Bruce Wayne as Batman we will see on screen during the final season?

There's no way the kid who plays Bruce can pull it off. He looks like he's one hundred pounds soaking wet.

I'm guessing it will play similarly to how Superman was used in "Smallville" (a glimpse at the end). We might get a flash-forward at the very end of the last episode, which would focus on Gordon and where he's at in the classic "Batman" set-up and just hinting at the character himself (the signal, a fleeting shadow).

Things are obviously being fast tracked which isn't a bad thing

a lot going on this episode but at the same time there wasn't really an epic feel to things

I'll watch the final season, with it being shorter should help things

When this show began, I recall the creator saying it would never be about Batman per se, so like others suggested I don't think we'll see the Caped Crusader until then final moments of the series finale (if at all). That's too bad because maybe with a time jump and an older actor playing the Dark Knight the ratings would have improved.

I bet Selina will be pissed that Bruce abandoned her after she asked him to stay.

Those two have a history of treating each other like crap. It makes no sense to me.

I guess it's what keeps these characters from riding off into the sunset together... not just on this show, but even in "Batman Returns". Never read the comic books, but haven't they always had a love-hate relationship?

The set up for next season reminds me of Escape From New York.

Long and complicated, to be sure, but in the current run (though I'm about 6-9 months behind), Bruce and Selina are engaged.

The finale itself wasn't great, but it sure did set things up well for the short final season.

That last scene with Gordon and Bruce on the rooftop with the signal light was great.

I don't see how 13 episodes will be enough to wrap up this show.

I guess it depends on how they choose to handle it. One option wold be to have Bruce toiling away (possibly with the help of Lucius) in the area below his house that his father setup (they have briefly touched on it multiple times before) while the top tier of the villains they have established carve out their share of the Gotham underworld. Other than the age discrepancy, it would work rather well as a setup for something comes later as Bruce fully becomes Batman.

I liked that scene too. Gordon is finally accepting that there's more to Bruce than meets the eye. He will no doubt know that Bruce is the city's Dark Knight. I wonder if they will ever utter the name "Batman"?

Thirteen episodes will definitely not be enough. Would be nice to see Hulu or Amazon pick this up.

Actually it really SHOULD. IMHO every season seemed to have a ton of filler that could have been tightened up. Mid-season they were going in so many circles in terms of who was allied with whom that I was ready for it to end (I felt the same way with SMALLVILLE by it's second to last season).

I've enjoyed the show, but it needs to end. I'm glad it's getting a chance to wrap up.

Exactly. The whole Barbara/Ra's arc was mostly worthless. Same with the majority of the stuff between Nygma and Lee. Far too much time spent on those in favor of of things that worked much better.

At this point I feel each season would have been far better if it were only 13 episodes. Especially if it meant they could run them all at once rather than doing the ridiculously long break.

Since the beginning of the show, it's been running in circles and you never knew from scene to scene who'd be allied with who or who would be against who... It seems to have played out pretty much every possible team up possible... and at the end of the day everyone lives.

I've enjoyed the show for the most part, besides when Fish was around, but I'm glad they've decided to end it.

Thirteen episodes should be fine with a clear ending in mind. Make sure everything has a point. Basically a nine and a half hour movie SHOULD be enough time if they don't waste anytime.

These Gotham seasons should have been 13 episodes to begin with - they seem to do about 4 season's worth of story arcs every year...it will be nice to see a season with some focus.

My guess is we might flash-forward to an older Batman played by a guest star in the last episode. I agree with the one poster who said that the actor who currently plays Bruce just isn't physically built enough (no fault of the showrunners, they hired him 5 years ago - credit to sticking with him).

Re: Gotham (S4E22) -- Season Finale -- "A Dark Knight: No Man's Land" -- 5/17/18

I loved the nod to the Riddler placing Gordon in a big, physical press like the Adam West series.

The actor playing Jerome is fantastic. He's now done two dramatically different versions of the Joker and been perfect in each iteration.

I assume they will take Selina to a Lazarus Pit and heal her.

Gotham has been a crazy ride all along but I think they really stretched a few of the characters too far in this last half of season four. There's no way anymore to line up this Bruce Wayne with any Batman we've ever seen before. I don't like the implication that Ra's gave Bruce his mission in life.

The casting of many of the villains has been excellent. When the script for the episode doesn't suck, the guys playing Penguin, Riddler and Freeze have shown how good they can be. And personally I've always felt the girl for Cat Woman is great. It's not her fault they made her and Bruce far younger than the others.

Really the only terrible fit was Fish and thankfully they have stopped trying to make us like her.

I actually liked the first and last Ivy actresses. And all of them can't help how badly they have handled the character. Only the last one got anything good and even that was too brief to really work.

Camren Bicondova (Selina) was apparently told the 5th and final season will only be 10 episodes.

She was doing an Instagram chat and that’s what she relayed.
