This show has been handled much better than expected. They've given serious thought to the season's overall direction and it has come together quite nicely. This is easily the best Brainiac we've seen outside the comics. Warner would have been much better off using this Brainiac in the movies.
The only thing I didn't like was the reveal that Seg is Zod's blood relative, now making Zod related to Superman. I'm sure that is what Goyer originally pitched to WB when they were making Man of Steel. It's a really dumb retcon but one I can overlook since I think everything else is clicking.

Renewed for a second season : http://deadline.com/2018/05/krypton-...fy-1202395845/
One of SyFy’s most watched scripted shows apparently.
I agree about the Zod reveal in this episode. That was a big WTF?
But, Brainiac’s appearance was pretty badass at the end.
Kinda weird how Seg’s grandpa interacts with Adam and Seg almost like an actual living being. In the Superman movies, Jor-El’s interactivity with Kal-El in the Fortress was limited because it was pre-recorded for most questions and scenarios prior to his death.
This has been a pretty good prequel. I’m glad it’s coming back.

They've certainly treated Seg's grandfather like a real person most of the time.
Syfy and the producers have spent a boatload on the set design for Krypton. Expect it to get a 4-5 season run unless ratings absolutely crater.

It's averaged slightly over 800K in viewers through 9 weeks. Which is actually the best among all of SyFy's current scripted shows. I think SyFy is hoping this will become their potential flagship show for at least the next 4-5 seasons....that is of course unless ratings crater.

But, as I said, this is currently SyFy's highest rated scripted show, so it really has nothing to worry about right now.
