Just binged this. I was very impressed. What a weird and fun show. It reminded me of Umbrella Academy, but I thought this was better. I have zero familiarity with the comics.

It's probably better if you don't, considering some of the plot. Comics are a great read but the personalities which made this season great are pretty much all made for TV anyway... Cliff, Rita (obviously), Jane and Trainor are all basically unique to this show, I feel.

How does the Morrison run of Doom Patrol compare to the show? Would I be really disappointed in it if I read it now (just having finished the show)? I understand Cliff is the only character that has appeared in all comic versions of the Doom Patrol.

I'm slowly catching up on Doom Patrol after falling behind.
I just watched episode 8 last night and what an amazing episode.
The People Like Us cover by Matt Bomer and Alan Mingo was so well done and had a good message within the context of this episode.

Finally finished this. Put it on hold after ep8 and was rather a chore to get back into. The back half of the season seemed to grind down to a halt.

Apparently it was announced at Comic Con that Doom Patrol was renewed for a 2nd season

DCUDoomPatrol has been renewed for Season 2. It will air on HBO Max and DC Universe simultaneously.

HBO Max won't be ready until Spring 2020 and that's about the same time Doom Patrol will be ready as well.

DC Universe had a big presence at Comic Con and their panel was the one who announced the renewals to this, Young Justice and the premiere date to Titans.
They aren't going anywhere yet. WB is still spending money to market and promote it.
They still have Titans season 2, Harley Quinn and Star Girl coming out in the next 6-8 months.
According to Deadlne the folks at WB really like this show because of its critical acclaim that’s why it’s going on HBO MAX too.

I expect them to roll DC Universe into HBO Now or some kind of consolidated Warners streaming service in the next couple of years.

Probably accurate, one day you'll wake up and your DCU membership will be HBO Max. But with the same material and.probably more.

You mean all the content will move from the $7.99 service to the $17+ service? Yes....most likely. But you will likely be paying the higher price, not some heavily discounted one to get all the content from HBO/"max"/DCU.

Yes. I can’t imagine subscriber numbers are very high, and we have already seen a show move over to HBO MAX. who knows what’s going on with the other 2 shows in development.
