Pausing halfway through episode three to say that this is one of the best television shows I’ve seen in a long time. Love the humor, casting, storyline so far. Any month with a new episode makes the DCU sub worth it by itself.

You obviously never watched BrainDead.

But yes, the openings and narrations overall have been great.

Watched the first two episodes of Doom Patrol last week, just saw the episode of Titans where Garfield takes Raven to the Doom Patrol mansion. Very amusing stuff...

Episode 4 continues the winning streak. One of the best adaptations of a comic book story I’ve seen. Nurnheim, The Archons, The Decreator, it’s all so glorious. And Mark Sheppard is glorious as the drunk chaos magician. Can’t wait for the next episode!

Re: DC's Doom Patrol (DC Universe) -- Season 1 Thread -- Premieres 2/15/19

Watched the Puppet Patrol last night.
Great episode. I liked the further backstory on Larry. Cyborg's a little annoying, and his dad sure did a 180. I'm getting used to Robotman's language, it's becoming more funny.
One thing that bugged me - why did Jane glare at Robotman after meeting him in the underground tunnel? She did the same thing he just did.
I loved the song choice during that scene.

Spoiler:
Nazi Punks F-ck Off

She explained that later.

EDIT: Actually nevermind, I think this happened in the episode after the episode you said you were up to, so I put it in spoiler.

Spoiler:
I'm terrible at remembering the exact wording, but basically she said something along the lines that her reason for coming into being/existing was to do that kind of stuff to protect the original scared little girl that was abused or whatever. While he did it out of a desire to do so and has a lot of pent up anger.

OK, thanks. I recall her saying something like that to
Spoiler:
Fuchs

but didn't link it to Robotman. Or I haven't seen her say it yet

Every time I see the opening credits, it seems like they're a cross between Westworld's and Netflix/Marvel superhero shows. Were they done by the same company?

Fifth episode was tremendous. Dr. Harrison is my favorite Jane personality so far.

The show is bonkers. Though as usual when you introduce something like
Spoiler:
time travel or manipulating events in the past
you make the viewer wonder why they didn't just take the easy route to change things instead of the infinitely harder one.

It also reminds me that I wish DC had just let Morrison use Constantine like he wanted when he wrote the series initially.

I was also super confused what was going on with cyborg. At first I thought if they repaired him they would have replaced even more of his human parts but that didn't seem to be the case. I hope they address it next episode.

Really? That's exactly what they did.
Spoiler:
Mr Nobody had "Dr Harrison" use her off the charts ability to persuade people to start a "counter-cult" to the one who brought the Decreator into the world. He used a Cult/Religion to cancel out another Cult/Religion. It was not Hard.... for Mr Nobody. Far more interesting, plus we got more "Jane" backstory.

You don't think it would have been easier/less complicated to, I don't know, cut it off at the source? Free the kid early? Like there are dozens of ways they could have changed things that were much simpler than what they ended up concocting.

Even the bell thing was super convoluted (how would they have known where Cliff and Jane would be, or how to get there), and required the enemies to basically let them go free multiple times for no good reason.

Why not just call Batman? He could "take out" the Decreator...with enough planning. They went with a weirdly creative Mr Nobody/Chief way to solve this. What are you going to do?

Weren't "Jane" and Cliff brought there specifically?

Spoiler:

Jane and Cliff went to go sew the gates shut. Jane volunteers because she knits and Cliff wants to go along to talk to her. Kipling had to chew some knowing gum to even find out where to go. They fail mainly because being in the church reminds Hammerhead of some kind of abuse she received and she threatens the priest, sending them to Nurnheim. In Nurnheim, the queen basically lets them go. Then the Recreator devotee finds the priest, splits him open and gets into Nurnheim, and the assassins basically let Cliff and Jane pass by them when they come to confront the intruder. That doesn't even get into how the dog was raised with the invisible writing or whatever, or how Cliff and Jane hear the "Ring My Bell" song (I originally though the Chief brought the snowglobe with him on the bus but it doesn't seem like he did)

It's basically classic Morrison stuff, and I'm not saying it doesn't work, just lots of stuff unexplained/coincidental.

I mean, this show introduced Animal-Vegetable-Mineral man, and we're getting
Spoiler:
Flex Mentallo
I'm a fan either way.

Yeah that was a really good ep. Liked seeing Cliff and Silas back and forth stuff.

On one of the DC podcasts I listen too they said the puzzle pieces
Spoiler:
in Jane's scenes were significant because in the comic Jane was molested by her Father while she was doing puzzles. This abuse is what led to her personalities.

I had never heard Lou Reed's "Perfect Day" before. This show is not just incredibly done, but I'm discovering great music as I watch this show!

Loved the twist at the end of Therapy Patrol. Great episode in general - I'm really impressed how much Brendan Fraser brings with just his voice.

That was a great ep. Loved seeing them open up to each other, not you Jane, and bond.

I agree. Which has gotta be hard in a show where pretty much every one of your actors has to be covered in metal or goop or bandages the majority of the time.

I wonder what Cyborg's big secret is with the supressed memory.

I'd kinda like to see a road trip episode with Admiral Whiskers and Ezekiel the cockroach ala Planes, Trains, And Automobiles style.

The latest episode may be my favorite so far. Introducing Danny The Street and Matt Bomer singing were big highlights imho. When I think it cannot get better, the show keeps having me hold its beer.

They did a pretty good job for such a wacky concept of a living street.

-Danny The Street was better than I imagined.
-Loved how Danny helps people.
-Once again Cyborg proves he is the only willing hero in the house at this point.

Next week looks like it's gonna be gooood!
