Yes, people tell everyone all the things they do or have. Getting on Lena's case for having Kryptonite when things have happened in this very show that warrants having some around. (Kryptonians that want to take over, mind controlled Supergirl or Superman etc...) All things that have happened.

Yeah one thing I never got was when Clark on Smallville and Kara here got all pissed off that an ally or friend would have something that might be the only way to save lives from Kryptonian threats either from others or under the influence Superman/Supergirl which has happened numerous times to both.

It is like a cop getting pissed at someone for having a stun gun on hand to protect themselves. I mean green Kryptonite doesn't even kill them outright as far as I know, it has only been shown to weaken them.

Enough exposure to Green Kryptonite is supposed to kill Superman and Supergirl. Television and the movies have never really explored that but it's well-established in the comics.

Thanks. I am going off the shows/movies since I can't think of a single Kryptonian in that medium that has ever been outright killed due to green Kryptonite but I could be missing something. I am not really famililar with the comic canon.

However my point still stands, even if it can kill, it is no different than someone owning a gun to protect themselves. I can see not wanting a criminal or enemy to have a weapon that can hurt kill you, but not a fellow crimefighter. You don't see military guys complaining if another soldier also has a gun.

The personal affront they show is just ridiculous and I hate that the writers use this lame device to create drama.

It's weird. Shows have done this with such petty things. A lot of things can kill humans and I guess we should be annoyed as well. Even the events of the show itself prove why SOMEONE needs to have it around.

Why would a total eclipse take away all her powers immediately? I thought Kryptonians were living solar batteries.

Indeed that makes no sense. What's the difference between that and locking her in a dark room? Does she lose her powers when she sleeps at night?

It doesn't in the comics.

I recall two stories. One where the sun was blocked out and Superman slowly lost his powers. Imagine how much they output would play into that.

Lois and Clark did an episode where they had to keep him in the dark, use a nuke and then use a very powerful weapon.

Even on a previous episode didn't Lillian Luthor devise a helmet to drain Supergirl of her "stored" powers?

It's almost as if the writers on the show know nothing about the comics...

They don't. The one producer that knew anything about comics was fired for sexual harassment.

You get the feeling that most of the prep work for this show was from watching Smallville repeats.

Ignorance of the genre seems to be a badge of honor among Hollywood (which includes Canada these days) writers. A lot of them look down their nose at sci-fi/fantasy, even if that's how they're currently earning a living.

I read an interview with some writers where they said their ignorance of the genre would bring fresh new perspectives. They forgot to explain, if they don't know the genre, how they would know whether what they're writing is a well-worn and boring genre trope.

Which made Berlanti's early superhero shows a breath of fresh air. They had staff members that actually understood the genre. But as the Arrowverse has expanded, that initial group has been spread too thin. Now they are just writing standard Hollywood formulas for the most part, even when they insert a "recognizable" DC character.
