HOPE - In the fifth season premiere, Clarke (Eliza Taylor) struggles to survive on a desolate, scorched earth while her friends in space come across a long-awaited beacon of hope. Bob Morley, Paige Turco, Henry Ian Cusick, Marie Avgeropoulos, Lindsey Morgan, Richard Harmon, Chris Larkin and Tasya Teles also star. Dean White directed the episode written by Jason Rothenberg (#501). Original airdate 4/24/2018.

13 episode 5th season

Remember if you lost track, the show jumped forward in time several years since season 4. Those events were depicted in the season 4 finale.

I was wondering last night where this thread was but I had faith. :)

This show is my guilty pleasure. Can't wait.

So far enjoyed the 1st half of the 1st ep ... Clarke-centric.

OMFG... this is my favorite show too (when GoT is off the air). I totally forgot about last night episode. Gonna have to watch it tonight.

Great episode.

Loved seeing the “Last Man on Earth” survival backstory with Clarke that filled in the gap from the time jump. Eliza Taylor really shined here.

Should be interesting to see how Clarke handles the group of killers that landed. Nice to see Ivana Milicevic.

 at sweet Octavia now being some kind of primal warlord.

Not sure about the season though ... the previews/trailers have been full of violence from all groups.

One thought, if the Gargarin lander was that big, how big is the ship in orbit? Whew ...

Watched it on Netflix and liked it. The cinematography during the "Clarke alone time" made the landscape oddly mesmerizing despite being so desolate. The rest was by the numbers, basically letting us know where the different groups are at and introducing the new one, after 6 years have passed. I found the Madi character (the grown-up version) a tad uninspiring but overall well done.

Mad Max Clarke eh? Interesting episode.

Seems this season is likely to continue being way better than the series low (the whole chip implant mind control crap).

Just seeing where/how everyone is after the time jump is interesting enough.

Besides this new group of people landing from a prisoner ship. Seems like there won't be any peace... which I guess is a given on this show since it seems to thrive on having a "bad group" to go up against each season.

Enjoyed the first episode, and remain hopeful that this is no longer The Grounder's Show.

My wife watches this and when I walk in the room and experience a couple minutes it seems terrible. I'm not allowed to comment on it anymore because I just pick it apart. I figured it was a limited series so she'd be done soon and we can get back to quality stuff but five seasons and going? Oh, man!

What am I missing? The plotting, acting and production value all seem underwhelming to me. Sell me on this, I'll try to be open.

Eh, believe it or not most people in "my circle of friends on the internet" say this is one of their top 3 favorite sci-fi currently airing. The other two usually being Westworld and The Expanse. I'm not so sure it deserves such high regard, but it's definitely not as bad as you made it sound: aside from a few seasons ago with the whole mind control chip implant crap I mentioned previously in this thread.

It's a good show dude. It's hard-hitting, takes (almost) no prisoners, and is the rare show where actions have serious repercussions. And it's also rare in that you have little idea as to where it's going - it's far more unpredictable than most shows. The line of this episode that best sums up the show is "there are no good guys". And productions values have looked above average for a television show, IMO.

Season 1 was terrible, way too much teen drama. I had actually given up halfway through. I picked it back up again when people were saying season 2 was much better. It's not groundbreaking or anything, but it's a rare show that kept getting better as it grew.

Well, that explained how they were writing out Isaiah Washington.

That knife wound didn't seem that serious until his bile started oozing out.

Here's Washington's goodbye from Instagram:

Cool episode. Liked that it filled in the gap on what happened in the bunker in during the 6 year gap. Love Octavia. That girl is a badass.

Curious to know how Marcus ended up in the fight to the death cage.

Renewed for a 6th season: http://deadline.com/2018/05/the-100-...cw-1202384545/

iZombie's fate is uncertain. Will depend how many Pilots The CW orders to series.

Yeah, except for Octavia second episode was blah...

But the third one it's back to being kickass.

I love this show. I wish I could binge watch this. =)

3rd episode from this week was awesome. Lots of tension. Good to see some of the main group back on the planet.

Clarke was holding her own until they pulled out the heavy duty firepower.

This one was really good. Surprised to see the young girl pull Bellamy's butt from the fire. Still wondering how they get the bunker folk free. Orbital weapon or perhaps even that sonic cannon from the ep?

Great... they just keep repeating the cycle and ended up finally killing off Earth for good.
Solution: Repeat on another planet. lol.

Catch the "end of book one" on the screen at the end?

Expected to only be 100 of them living by the end ... Monty you will be missed (only sensible one of the bunch IMHO)

Seems like a big reset. Could be terrible or could be what's needed. We'll see.
I did think the ending was very well done, though.

They should end the series right there.

Now they have a totally new planet to fuck up.

Re: The 100 (The CW) -- Season 5 Thread -- Premieres 4/24/18

I'm sure the new planet will look remarkably like Canada as all Sci-Fi does it recent years. :)

Rather than having a thriving colony for them to butt heads against right away, I'd like to see them discover an abandoned colony with a mystery of what happened and are they somewhere else and maybe deal with some truly alien stuff.

Koby 08-13-18 01:39 AM

Re: The 100 (The CW) -- Season 5 Thread -- Premieres 4/24/18

I kind of hope there is no new group of people to fight... Would rather them have to try to survive on a new planet with a bunch of alien wildlife rather than rinse and repeat the same plot over and over. Lets see this vast new world and expand on that instead. Enjoy the scenery. Honestly I wouldn't mind if they bring the show to some sort of peaceful community end within a season or two...

But despite my hopes, I know it'll just be another colony of people living there that they have to fight off to survive until they kill off another planet.
