Good news, Stranger Things fans: A brand-new origin story is coming your way.

EW can exclusively reveal some of the first details about Suspicious Minds, the first official Stranger Things novel, written by YA author Gwenda Bond (Fallout, Double Down). The book is part of a new initiative between Netflix and Del Rey, an imprint of Penguin Random House, which will flesh out a collection of characters from the beloved series and dig deeper into its mythology.

Suspicious Minds is set before the events of Stranger Things. It’s a prequel novel, and it’ll follow Eleven’s mother and her time as a test subject in the MKUltra program, which the series has only begun to scratch the surface on.

Intel on exactly what to expect is still sparse, but you can check out the first chapter of Suspicious Minds exclusively below, as well as the official cover. And as the book jacket indicates, there’s at least one major character from the Stranger Things series we can expect to figure into the novel prominently.
