Lauren Cohan's situation is heavily contingent on whether or not her network Pilot gets picked up.
If it gets picked up, I'm guessing she will return for season 9 as a recurring guest star in order to have them eventually write out her character.

She's using that pilot to get more money for TWD. Would be an idiot not to. The chances of any new network show even reaching the current ratings level of TWD is slim to none. My guess is her agent would ask for a shit load of money just to come back for one episode.

Here it is here ... exactly why Gimple needed to go!
TVLINE | Tell me about Jesus’ reaction to Maggie’s plan to show Rick and Michonne how wrong they are to keep Negan alive. Jesus seemed cool with it. But he’s Mr. Live-and-Let-Live…
Well, he’s not Morgan. I don’t think he rushes to kill anyone at all. If someone is surrendering to him, he won’t do it. But he has Maggie’s back, and this is Negan we’re talking about. That’s sort of a different thing. Would [killing Negan] be Jesus’ first choice? I don’t know. But he does support Maggie. And [in his mind, the question would be,] is this about killing an innocent, or is this about what Maggie sees as justice or even neutralizing a danger? It’s complicated.

Hard to describe how bad this was. I'm glad the All Out War stuff is done, it was drawn out as much as the Governor. Now I hope without Gimple they have a shot of picking this pile of shit and make it into something half decent.

I am so far behind this season. I've seen two episodes and figured I would catch up when I had less stuff on. Sounds like a LOT of padding for something that is not even that big of a deal. Dragged out too long. Even wondering if it's worth it to catch up and that's not something I say. I don't just stop watching a show once I'm into it. Maybe if it was a shorter season.

Back to The Walking Dead...
It was comical that, once again, the group turned into expert marksmen when they took out the first group of Saviors with single shots. Meanwhile, they couldn't hit a thing with automatic weapons when the Saviors were fleeing Hilltop.[/QUOTE]
Most of the front line saviours were taken out by Eugene's misfiring bullets

I'm glad you said that. Much is made on the forums about TWD's falling ratings. It is worth noting the show is still number 1. Most series see a ratings drop off by the time they are 9 years old. Few shows last that long.

Nope. I'm done. I will not watch next year.
I will only pick up the show again when they announce they are ending and I will catch up via streaming. And that is only if I've heard the show has improved. It is a stretch for me to say I will even do that. But I can't watch this week to week anymore.

If you really need it...
It seems like FTWD had a little boost due to the revamp. I bailed on that long ago though.
Pulling in 7.9 million viewers, the April 15 “Wrath” episode that saw the All-Out War showdown between Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and the Survivors and villain Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and his Saviors was down just over 30% from the Season 7 finale of April 2, 2017. Put in another wider context, that’s even with the all-time low fall finale of last December and the worst any TWD finale has done since the 5.97 million sets of eyeballs the Season 1 ender of December 5, 2010.

"Worth noting that TWD is still TV's top-rated drama in the demo, beating NBC's This Is Us (2.7, or 3.1 if you factor in the post-Super Bowl LII episode). Sunday Night Football is No. 1 in prime (6.1), while ABC's Roseanne reboot is currently the highest-rated scripted show (4.4)."
and Roseanne still has 5 more episodes to drop that average. Which it will.

I actually really like Neagan. I'm glad he wasn't killed and will be around next year. I like how the whole season took place in a 2-3 week time frame.
Personally, I watch it because it is what it is. Mindless fun. Go watch The Looming Tower or something if you need to feel smart. It's a zombie show.

You've made the same comment all season about how people hate watching and didn't really offer any actual discussion on what you liked and didn't like. I was just legit asking what you liked.

I don't feel I'm being either of those things. Next season will still be the same people who bitch non-stop on how terrible it is yet still watch live with the AMC App open for the second screen wearing their Daryl pajamas eating Neagan themed cookies. It's comical.

I feel like most of the cast, aside from Rick, only appear in a handful of episodes/scenes anyway. The cast is far too large at this point and needs to get trimmed down. Maybe that's why I enjoyed those stand-alone episodes a few season back.
Hopefully we'll get a time jump and some of the secondary character will just disappear (like Tara and Aaron).

How could it be a small time jump? Fear started when TWD was in what, it's 6th season? I don't know exactly how much time has passed in the Walking Dead, I'm guessing 2 or 3 years, but are they really going to do a time jump that big since the last season of Fear?

The passage of time has always been a bit vague on TWD.

All you have to do is gauge Judith's age. She looks to be about 2 and 1/2. Lori got pregnant somewhere around the first episode when she had sex with Rick and Shane around the same time. So, 8 years in, it's been around 3 years.
My guess is that Cohen got the big raise she was looking for and an expanded part on TWD. That's why she's plotting against Rick, now. I doubt they would have set something like that up if she was leaving the show.
