Unsavory subject matter and I know the story forwards and backwards by now, but for Al Pacino, I will still watch. Loved You Don't Know Jack and liked Phil Specter.

I like Sports Bios and JoePa is a legend even though his career ended in disaster with the whole Sandusky case.
I'll definitely watch this. Funny how Al Pacino gets another lead in an HBO bio pic when he's been mostly doing low budget or straight to video movies outside of those HBO movies. Being that he's 80, I guess it makes sense that he's well beyond being an in demand feature film actor anymore.

Maybe he and De Niro are in the same boat where De Niro did his best work in "Wizard of Lies" the Madoff biopic
Danny Collins might have been Pacino's last good movie though Manglehorn was not that bad.

Robert De Niro and Al Pacino are teaming up for a very expensive lunch date.
One lucky and financially well-endowed fan bid $110,000 to join the two Hollywood icons, along with a guest, for a private lunch in New York City on Thursday.
The proceeds will benefit the Tribeca Film Institute, which works to “identify a diverse group of exceptional filmmakers and media artists [and] then empower them with funding and resources to fully realize their stories and connect with audience,” according to their website.
In addition to lunch and drinks with a guest, the high bidder is allowed to take a photo with the actors and have something small signed. The meal is scheduled to last about an hour.

I just finished watching this and let me say that this is not a film that covers the life and career of one of the greatest college football coaches of all-time. It's not a bio at all of him.
Basically to make a long story short, it's about how a sick pedophile's actions cost Joe Pa his job because of his ignorance of the whole situation.
It was 95% of the fallout of the Sandusky scandal and how it affected the Paterno family. Plus, Joe Pa was also apparently really sick with advanced lung cancer at the time the scandal broke and that's what eventually killed him. Football was hardly covered except some short footage of his 409th career win.
BTW, I at Greg Grunberg's fat suit playing Joe Pa's obsese son Scott.
Pacino was good as Joe Pa, but I can't say the subject matter of this movie will appeal to most.

It was more about how some view football and legacy as more important than taking care of the wellfare of kids. Paterno knew what was going on. Fuck him.

Can't wait to discuss this with my Penn State friends, as they will continue to say that Jo Pa knew nothing and was railroaded by the media.

The guy was 85 years old coaching from the booth. How much time realistically did they want him to have? This gave the school the perfect opportunity to move on.

What is shocking that Paterno was calling plays when he was 84. I thought he would be out of it and probably just a figurehead and lost his abilities to coach.
I wonder whey they did not fire Jerry after the first allegation since assistants always come and go and he could have been easily replaced?
I don't think he was a genius like Belicheck.
I thought Grunberg was fat and he did not have to wear a fat suit.
Could Pacino get a emmy nomination for this? Probably his best work since Danny Collins.

Thank you for your concern.
Obviously, at Penn State, that's all that mattered.

Was it a fat suit? If so, whew. I was thinking OMG Greg, how you've let yourself go.
As for the movie itself, I thought it was a real letdown. It told me nothing I didn't already know, no insight into any of the characters. And Pacino's "acting" could have been done by a cardboard cutout.
