Finally watched a bit of this, as I liked the show back in the day. Thought the first episode was awful, but the next two were better, so I might finish it someday.

Is it an insurance thing?
I doubt it. Worse is when they're drinking so sort of beverage (especially in say a disposable coffee cup) and you can tell there's NOTHING in it. I mean at least fill it with water so it looks like it has some heft to it.

I think the biggest part of that scenario for them was that with the FEMA money everyone would be getting, Dan would have tons of work and get than money for doing those repair jobs.

This episode was "meh" at best. I'd give the season overall maybe a "B".

Did this just become the Walking Dead thread where every little thing is picked apart to death?

I've enjoyed the reboot and get some laughs out of every episode so far. All I ask for in a sitcom these days.

We also noticed the box thing right away. Something hard to miss that would have been so easy to avoid. And the references to their history of Halloween episodes just hammered home just how badly most of these new episodes come off compared to what had come before. Metcalf has apparently totally lost her acting ability. Which is odd because she has been quite good when she has guest starred on the BBT. Gilbert is more annoying as ever and doesn't even appear to be trying. And the women that plays Becky is even worse now than when she was young.

But there are still some laughs each episode which makes up for much of it.

Hopefully this can be running against come Halloween time and they put a far better effort into creating a classic episode that hold up to those that came before.

Wanda Sykes says she won't be returning due to a tweet from Roseanne:

Yikes. Not good. ABC could pull the plug on that second season order. Get ready, FOX.

Edit: looks like they just cancelled it!

I just posted in the Official Trump Presidency thread as a reply to a post about her tweet that ABC might be willing to scrap a second season as nothing has been filmed yet and Roseanne really stepped in it. Pre-Roseanne airing maybe this tweet would have riled people up but still had them tuning in but now not so much.

Did Roseanne feel so constrained by what she could say on the show that she wanted to give ABC an excuse to cancel (I will take off my tinfoil hat now)?

ETA: I feel bad for the behind the scenes folks of Roseanne but it would have been mightily awkward anyway for them to come back to work knowing they would be basically working for a racist woman.

President Trump really opened the floodgates for folks who think they can let their racist flag fly in public with no consequences but hopefully folks seeing ABC cancel what had to a major money maker for them will give them pause.

I'm glad it's cancelled but (as I mentioned in the Trump thread) I really think the Hitler photo shoot she didn't should have been enough to keep her off the air.

Well, at least they got a reunion season out of the way before the whole thing collapsed in on itself.

Re: Roseanne (ABC) -- Season 10 Thread -- premieres 3/27/18

Instead of another ETA to my post creating new post to say more evidence that whatever President Trump touches turns to crap? Granted, Roseanne did a great job shooting herself in the foot, but it was also big news that the President called her after the show aired so he did indeed "touch" the Roseanne show.

Our President really is the anti-Midas...sad and amazing that this is the case.

I feel bad for the cast and crew that are impacted by the fallout of the cancellation.

Most of the cast is fine with other projects lined up, save for maybe Fishman and Goranson. The crew will be absorbed up pretty quick as well since they film in L.A. and aren't actually working on Roseanne right now.

A day or two ago, Whitney Cummings mentioned on Instagram that she was not fired but there were no plans for her to return for another year. Maybe she saw this coming.

Saw this coming? Roseanne is a truly awful, racist person who has a history of offensive behavior.

Did she not know the President of the network that airs her fucking show is a black woman?

Stupid bitch.

I like this tweet by Ava DuVernay

No need to worry about the crew. They will find other jobs on other shows that will start filming soon. Freelance TV crews find new jobs all the time.

ABC is apparently shocked to discover gambling is going on here.

Its odd that she seems to be loved by the conservative right wing, when she famously trashed the American national anthem. According to the rhetoric, that seems like a lifetime unforgivable offence.

Yep. What she did to the anthem is far worse than any kneeling could ever be.
