Norm Macdonald Has a Show (Netflix) -- premieres 9/14/18

<script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Norm Macdonald is following in the footsteps of longtime friend and peer David Letterman, by lining up his own Netflix talk show.

As announced on Friday by the Saturday Night Live alum, the streaming giant has given a 10-episode order to Norm Macdonald Has a Show, which will feature the titular host, sidekick Adam Eget and one celebrity guest in each installment. The talker promises “great and unexpected conversation, jokes and a behind-the-scenes look at Norm’s world.”

Macdonald will also serve as co-showrunner alongside fellow executive producer/former SNL staffer/longtime collaborator Lori Jo Hoekstra (Norm, A Minute with Stan Hooper et al), while no less than Letterman himself is playfully billed as a “location scout” (aka creative partner) for the series. KP Anderson and Daniel Kellison are also executive producers.

Sources say Norm Macdonald Has a Show is being eyed to launch by early 2019.

I'm in for anything with Norm. It still amazes me that unfunny people like Corden get a Late Night Show over Norm.

And just like that, every video from Norm Macdonald Live on Youtube is now blocked due to copyright claim from Netflix.

Norm to me is possibly the greatest comedian of all time, but I am hoping that they aren't simply buying the Youtube show and broadcasting it. The show was amazingly funny, but I have now watched them countless times over. Wish I had copied them all as it looks like they may be gone for good, which is a shame.

More Norm Macdonald is always good news.

It sounds like a Netflix version of his YouTube show, which is a very, very good thing because it was great.

ETA: I hope it’s not just a rebroadcast of the YouTube stuff with a Netflix logo.

And I agree with this. Problem is that Norms comedy is actually pretty damn intelligent and well thought out. That doesn't appeal to the morons who laugh like maniacs at tubs of monkey spunk like Corden. I hate that twat with a passion.

I noticed the library had disappeared a few months ago when I popped in as I occasionally do to check for new content. This might explain it. Hopefully it is part of the deal to include the catalog but going forward will consist of new shows. That the announcement say “10 episode order” should assure that.

Exactly. Look what happened to Kimmel even, that guy has become an unfunny and unrecognizable whimpering douchebag compared to what he once was. That’s the price you pay to make sure you get invited to the finest cocktail parties. New Kimmel would never employ a Holocaust denier like Adam Eget.

I think he will go down as probably one of the greatest talk show guests (along with comedians like Don Rickles and Louis CK) as they can carry a segment and the host doesn't need to do anything but sit back. I went back and watched some of his appearances on Conan and other late night shows, and he is great when he stays on the couch when the 2nd guest comes out. Usually the 2nd guest is some B level actor that nobody has heard of, some Norm always chimes in and keeps the segment going. Not sure it is still on YouTube but the best is when he was on with Courtney Thorne-Smith and totally buried her movie, but did it in a such a way that it wasn't mean spirited but outrageously funny.

Letterman is going to be the show’s location scout. What does that mean?

re: Norm Macdonald Has a Show (Netflix) -- premieres 9/14/18

Well it seems every video from his Youtube Live show has been taken down. A shame as the 4 hour compilation of all the jokes someone had made was regularly on in my car when driving too and from work. A couple of great examples: Barbara Walters has announced she is retiring from The View. Well she actually announced it 5 years ago, but no one could hear over those yammering bitches.

And the look on SuperDaves face is fantastic when Norm says "A Gold chain would be a nice retirement present for a very good slave."

And that Courtney Smith clip is amazing.

Anyone heard his Austin stand up and eating at a resteraunt called Draculas? Just amazing. And that roast he did of Bob Sagat was legendary. He turned it completely on its head and the majority of people, comedians included, simply didn't get what he was doing. That talentless shit Jim Norton being one. It was genius.

Kimmel was never good and as lame or lamer than Tim Allen.

As much as I love Norm, I am so fucking tired of this type of show format. I was hoping it would be a sketch show.

I'm hoping that the Netflix deal includes the existing library which will migrate to Netflix this year while the new show starts in 2019. (kind of like how Seinfeld's Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee migrated to Netflix as a part of his deal) Here's hoping!

Norms moth joke is, without a doubt, the greatest joke of all time.

He had his moments and went against the grain with things like The Man Show and some of his other work. Now he is just another Hollywood toady longing to win the acceptance of pseudo-intellectual celebrity phonies.

Regardless, my original point had more to do with the fact that guys like Corden were like that from the outset. Late night has been worthless since the departure of Craig Ferguson.

I always thought Kimmel was carried by Adam Carolla on the Man Show. I was stunned when Kimmel turned up with his own talk show on ABC.

Netflix has set Friday, September 14 for the premiere of Norm Macdonald Has A Show, a new talk show fronted by comedian and ex-SNLer Macdonald along with his sidekick Adam Eget.

Celebrity guests for the 10-episode first season also were announced. They include Drew Barrymore, David Spade, Judge Judy, David Letterman, Jane Fonda, Chevy Chase, M. Night Shyamalan, Michael Keaton, Billy Joe Shaver and Lorne Michaels.

Lori Jo Hoekstra is executive producer and co-showrunner of Norm Macdonald Has a Show, which is being produced by Macdonald’s Anchor Spud Productions along with Pygmy Wolf Productions in association with Lionsgate Television, which also is behind McHale’s Netflix show. K.P. Anderson and Daniel Kellison are also executive producers.

I wonder if this will even last past the first season considering how Netflix cancelled the Joel McHale and Michelle Wolf shows.

I was wondering when this was going to finally show up. With Norm nothing is for sure until it actually happens. I cannot wait.
