MEET THE LEGION - Struggling to heal from her injuries inflicted by Reign (Odette Annable), Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) remains in a dreamlike state, unable to be reached. Mon-El (Chris Wood) recruits one of the Legion members, Brainiac-5 (guest star Jesse Rath), to try to bring her back. Meanwhile, Reign continues her rampage on the city so the DEO teams up with the Legion of Superheroes to try to stop her. Jesse Warn directed the episode written by Derek Simon & Eric Carrasco (#310). Original airdate 1/15/18.

Fun return. 1st time Mon-El wasn't completely useless. I liked him and his wife's little battle with Reign. Brainiac-5 was a fun little addition. It added a little bit of quirkiness to the episode.

I liked how they kept playing the serious music with all the Bon Jovi references. And Benoist was great as a nazi and funny as disguised JJ.

Mon-El, basically as worthless as ever. The Legion is supposed to be a capable group of Supers, right?

The problem witht hem having made it clear Superman is out there is episodes like this one. No way they wouldn't call brother Supes in this one if not for budget.

I keep wanting to enjoy this Reign arc but the character has been introduced and is handled so poorly in each episode. Case in point was the end where she is some how magically cured and then the stupid speech about how there are others. Yeah, right...

More superheroes?? Enough already. I wish they'd just focus on the core characters. The Reign storyline is dragging on too long. The new blue-headed dude looks plain stupid. Mon-El finally gets a superhero costume and it's a leather jacket??

It was the first Supergirl episode I've watched this season outside the crossover. It is nice getting Brainiac 5, though they wrote him way too much as a dork. Mon-El didn't seem to do much in the fight except take shots.

Re: Supergirl (S3E10) -- "Legion of Superheroes" -- 1/15/18

I thought it was alright.

-Seriously, does Mon El even have super powers at all? He's never done anything. No super strength, flight, speed anything. For some reason this show seems to really do their best to depower the guys to make Kara look stronger and it isn't necessary.

-Hated how Braniac looked but liked the actor who played him. I also liked Saturn Girl and the fight with Bon Jovi playing.

-Melissa was awesome playing J'onn as Kara.

-Lena is totally worthless on this show right now and I like Lena. James still sucks.

-I don't mind Reign but I agree she's been pretty underwhelming.

Overall meh. It's still way down on the list in terms of the DC shows.

Liked the ep. But if the info is in all of their DNA. Maybe just pull a "Saving Private Ryan" and not send everyone to the fight....

Mon-El can't punch through a ball of ice? Didn't he fight Supergirl to a standstill in an episode?

I could be wrong.. but I could swear the ball was covering his wife's force field. She created it as Reign tried to freeze him. Perhaps the FF is pretty effective.

She left the field up while he was trying to get out?

Yup she protected him in a force field right before she was going freeze him.

That's not what I meant. After Reign used her cold breath on him there was Mon-El was trying to punch his way out of the ice. Why would his wife keep the force field up after, especially if he was trying to get out?

Why does Brainiac look like an idiot? SG used to date this guy.

Maybe she was unsure if it would hurt him. Who knows.

Big LoSH fan. Am I going to be totally lost if I just watch this episode and maybe the one preceding it? How far back should I go?

This was the midseason premiere. It picks up after a cliffhanger from 1 month ago. I don’t know if there is really a good place to start for this. Mon-El was introduced a season ago and brought back here under different circumstances.

Re: Supergirl (S3E10) -- "Legion of Superheroes" -- 1/15/18

Hmm... I guess I'll just jump in. I caught part of what was probably the midseason cliffhanger where Mon-el came back and Saturn Girl woke up and Odette Annable became Reign, though I didn't understand much.

Lar Gand/Mon-el was like my favorite Legionnaire growing up, but he was pretty disappointing in the few episodes I saw when he was first introduced. But I'll give it another try.

Pick up the last couple of episodes, when Mon-El was brought back to the show for this Legion arc. Supergirl is light, fluffy storytelling. It's not anywhere as densely plotted as Arrow or the Flash.

Big Legion fan but underwhelmed by the episode. I understand why they wouldn’t want to use 20 characters, but it’s silly to say “we have a whole Legion here!” and point to three people.

Why did they change Brainiac from green to blue?

Maybe they figured TV-only fans would be afraid he was Kryptonite Face?

Colors in Hollywood now are almost always dictated by what shows up well on green screens for the FX shots. It's warped a lot of comic book characters when they hit the screen.
