It was like the whole Dale incident. They want to cut the budget or play hardball with the cast negotiations? Inside baseball.whatever. Cut the useless supporting cast that nobody cares about. I don’t need to see the garbage people or other randoms. This show has gone under the dumpster along with Glenn.

Interesting example given how many die hard Game of Thrones feel the same way about that. No matter how well the show handles it, a percentage of even the die hard fans don't like being like being played during season finales.

Re: The Walking Dead (S8E08) -- Mid-Season Finale -- "How It's Gotta Be" -- 12/10/17

Spoilthedead refused to allow the spoilers about his impending death because he contacted them earlier in the season and asked them not to.

Riggs went on the SpoiltheDead this morning and thanked them, and also stated the show was going to end in a few seasons.

"Hi, so I've come to realize that you all have probably figured out the big reveal at the end of 808," Riggs wrote, before asking that the site refrain from spoiling the big reveal "out of respect" for himself, his character, and the most glaring reason, "for one of the last few seasons of the show."

I really don't see the big deal with killing Carl off. There was nothing amazing about the character.
In fact, the only character I wouldn't like them killing off is Carol - and even then it wouldn't be a big deal.

Just hire new writers and make the story lines better, stop the filler episodes, stop repeating yourself and stop making the characters do stupid nonsensical things.

Re: The Walking Dead (S8E08) -- Mid-Season Finale -- "How It's Gotta Be" -- 12/10/17

I think the issue with killing Carl is that he is perceived to be the POV character (at least to comic readers). I have heard people say The Walking Dead is supposed to be the story of Rick raising Carl to be a leader, how he copes with that, and how he becomes a leader. Of course, the show has no damned direction to it and has screwed that all up anyway ... instead they have pretty much made all the characters unsympathetic and inconsistent hot messes as they meandered through nonsensical situations.

At this point I don’t think anybody really “cares” about any of the characters dying; it’s more about the way the show goes about it.

Doesn't someone have to teach Rick how to be a leader first?

I've read some of the comics, but was waiting to watch the show (plus Fear) all together but now that I've learned about Carl, I'm probably never going to bother. How much longer can this show go on?

I can call you on your BS. Don't like it? Don't fucking care.

Merry Christmas.

Re: The Walking Dead (S8E08) -- Mid-Season Finale -- "How It's Gotta Be" -- 12/10/17

Just caught up binge watching

This show has you split. It has enough cool elements to keep watching, but there is so much stupidity, bad writing that it makes it a tough watch

it's definitely not satisfying binge watching like 24

The problem is this is AMC's cash cow so they will milk ever last jism of cum from it

The premise of the show is just so limited, that they need to draw out the current groups as long as they possibly can

The other problem is that things have gotten to the point where morality is totally out the window, such that when they try and crowbar it back in (like with Jesus), it's just annoying, unbelievable and stupid.

And stupid things like the saviours only wanting one death of payback after god knows how many saviours have been killed by Rick's group

Fact is as soon as Maggie's truck was stopped, everyone would have been killed instantly by the savious, none of this talking rubbish

i'm calling it, Chandler Rigg is NOT going to have much of an acting career after this at all.

The huge problem this show has is that the only thing it can do for finales is killing off a character. There is nothing else they can do with this premise to surprise the viewer

incredibly limiting

Re: The Walking Dead (S8E08) -- Mid-Season Finale -- "How It's Gotta Be" -- 12/10/17

Well this sat on the DVR until we got a notice that it was going to expire unless we watched it so, with a sigh, we decoded to watch the last 2 episodes of the season.

More of the same.. when it was over we didn't really give a crap about Carl. I mean I guess it's good that they are willing to kill off main characters still but it's kinda gotten numb now.

Anyhow when it was done I asked my wife if we were going to keep watching it next year and she deleted it off the list of stuff to record so.. I guess we are done. Was fun for the first bunch of years..

Renewed for a 9th season. Angela Kang named new showrunner: https://www.thewrap.com/the-walking-...9-angela-kang/

You've probably seen Kang appear in interviews on Walking Dead featurettes. She has been a member of the writer's room for several seasons now.

Scott Gimple wasn't fired. He was given a newly created job of Chief Content Officer for the Walking Dead shows.

What a creative mess this show has been throughout the entire run. The sad thing is the entire thing could have been FN awesome if not for nonsense from AMC/Kirkman.

And yes, they picked someone else who has no show runner experience while allowing Gimple to save face. No doubt another puppet for the network.

Amazing assumptions considering Kirkman only did like 12 episodes total before being shitcanned.

There is no way to tell how good/bad the show would be with him. He was able to do the first season essentially a bubble since the season was so short. Pretty clear he was going of off the rails once season 2 started as the show was gaining momentum.

Ugh. Just imagine a world with Shane/Dale/blonde girl forget her name still in it.

I guess it is what we had been asking for. Not sure that promoting somebody from within was the way to go, but we’ll see.

“Chief Content Officer for the Walking Dead”, you don’t say? Well, good for you buddy. That’s just great. Do you need some cookies before your nap? (He gets crabby if we don’t patronize him before he lays down.) We can get them from the Master Cookie Elf in Charge of Chocolate Chips at Keebler.

(Sounds like a made up “boss’s nephew” job to me.)
