Raniere tried that. He moved to Mexico. He had recruited the son of a former president of Mexico into his cult. It didn't help him. He was arrested at the request of US authorities.
He was always telling his followers that men were strong and women were weak, and men naturally had what it takes to handle tough situations. But when the Mexican police were at the door, he left his women to face them while he hid in the closet.

Nothing says Christmas like a small update on the NXIVM sex cult. This is from a reporter that was legally harassed after investigating Raniere and the cult a few years ago. Lots of details that I don't think will be making the NY Times anytime soon.
