Debbie (Emma Kenney) builds her future at welding school while juggling life as a single working mom, as Carl (Ethan Cutkosky) gets creative finding tuition money after he loses his scholarship. Meanwhile, Liam (Christian Isaiah) discovers just how different the Gallaghers are from the families of his rich classmates as Frank schools him on "sticking it to the man." This season of SHAMELESS features new recurring guest stars Jessica Szohr as Fiona's tenant, Nessa, and Farah Tahir as Frank's new boss, Adeeb. Looks like a new actor is playing Liam this season...

Solid opening. I really have a feeling the writers room thought season 7 was the series finale because they usually do a pseudo-reset during their premieres. This one felt like the next episode of last season. I really hope this is the last season. It's still great but it's time to go.

Yup, good catch. He was previously played by twins. I guess they still appear in the opening credits though.

They gave him a few more lines than usual this episode but still not that many that made it clear it was a new actor.

Agree completely- I have always loved this show and will stick with it until the end, but it really is time for it to end. But if ratings continue to be strong, I bet this won't be the last season....

Its funny I had no idea this show was coming back this past weekend until I saw the thread. Glad to hear the show is still decent. Will have to watch it tonight or soon....

They kept Liam mostly silent for 6 years, and now they finally decided to make him human.

The characters on this show throw money around like they've got endless amounts.

well, typically folks who aren't used to money and who get an injection of it spend it a lot faster.

This show is wicked fun. It is a black comedy with lots of heart and great characters about a very unconventional family sired by a man who is truly in every sense of the word shameless

During its first season I remember thinking this show wouldn't last more than 2, maybe 3 seasons. Didn't imagine it lasting as long as it has, but I keep coming back for more.

Will this be Showtime's longest running scripted show? Dexter went 8 seasons.

Here's an article on the Liam switch. I didn't realize it, but this is the third version of Liam. He was previously played by two different sets of twins. It's actually the original twins that still appear in the opening credits, not the ones that just finished playing him.

Just wanted to give this season a bump.

While I do think this show should end, this season has been pretty strong and an improvement on the last few years.

I'm finding the show to be pretty predictable and cliche'd.

You knew when the waitress would eventually find out about her bf getting someone preggers that she would bang Lip. I was waiting to hear about a lawsuit the second I heard the guy fell off the roof
The guy mentions how unsafe the welding shop is, so I only had to wait 10 seconds until Deb got hurt.

Last week's stereotyping of Canada was ridiculous. Mounted police and the way he talked... and I was actually wondering if we were going to see a moose - shortly afterwards they actually crash into one. It's like 10 year old's wrote the episode.

My wife and I are just barely hanging in there for this season. At this point I think there are two episodes left and I will try and keep at it in vain hopes it gets better. Its funny because when the season started we had clearly missed a few things and it turns out we abandoned season 7 around episode 8 or 9 as well.
I would say "occupy Fiona" was the weakest ep this season, they really seem to be running out of ideas and have gotten way too predictable in the story lines. I think the only surprise so far was
Spoiler:
them killing off the professor offscreen. But, I can all but guarantee the daughter will be banging Lip by the end of the next episode. -rolleyes-

I haven't watched the current season of Shameless yet (chose not to renew Showtime when my promo ended).

My general rationale of Shameless typically is I never seem to eagerly anticipate its return season after season, but upon airing, always seem to make a point to watch week in/week out. I'll get to this current season eventually.

I could not handle the toe scene.

And, nothing new, but Fiona is so dumb.

Yea, the show goes too far out of their way to gross people out in one way or another. Basically trying to outdo themselves in shock-level.
I'm not sure what's left they can do to shock the audience.

Gotta appreciate how motivated Deb is to get back to work. It seems like everyone on the show has a real work ethic except for Lip (and Frank). He's the character that pisses me off the most... has the street smarts, book smarts and natural smarts - yet he lingers around crappy dead-end jobs.

I thought the toe scene was a pretty great Frank moment. Just walks in and takes care of it.
