In that opening intro, I assume it was Galadriel speaking with an actual Irish accent. Well, accented, because when she says Mordor it sounded like she had an Irish accent or Gaelic, or whatever. I'm so used to Cate Blanchett doing it - her pitch is much deeper.

Yeah I assumed it was Galadriel too. Maybe I am alone, but I always thought it would be neat if the prologue had Galadriel sitting in like a modern pub in present times talking to someone about the story

My local affiliate will probably run a mattress commercial over the trailer.

I don't think the trailer is airing on NBC. It's way too expensive. $7M for like a 30 second spot.
I think Amazon will probably drop like a 90 second teaser on the Prime Video YouTube channel.

True. But, there is still an advertising budget for this and it's not airing for 7 more months.

I don't think this was posted here yet, but here are almost two dozen character posters for the upcoming series:
https://www.cbr.com/lord-of-rings-ri...acter-posters/
No faces, just a lot of hands holding things; quite a few swords and rings. Maybe they'll release uncropped versions some time between now and September.
I'm guessing that the last one is Annatar.

I am not a LOTR expert but isn't at least part of Numenor like really advanced with airplanes and things like that so sort of Sci Fi?

Maybe.

I don't see fancy spaceships or anything shiny like that, but they may do vehicles that are more "lo-tech" than anything, yet still advanced for the times.

I think that if they have the Numenorians driving around cars or flying in airplanes it would come off as really fucking stupid.
They were more advanced than other cultures of Middle Earth, and they will need to portray that, but they should still come off as a pre-industrial, medieval society. So no horseless carriages or electric lighting or rifles, or anything like that.
The advancement of Numenor probably shouldn't go too far beyond Europe during the Renaissance. They probably had a lot of Leonardo DaVincis, but no Thomas Edisons or Henry Fords yet.
It wouldn't be unrealistic or them to be using firearms at that point, but it would be weird aesthetically.

Still wondering how they are going to make money on this after spending around a billion dollars. It will take so many deals with rights and ads to make money. I'm not saying it would have trouble making money just making THAT much money. Big blockbuster films don't want to spend this kind of cash.

I guess she’s a Man(?) and not an Elf. Can’t see her ears, but the armor looks sort of Elvish. Numenorian, maybe?

Looks fine. That article is really long, so bookmarked it to read later today. They did create new characters for the series, though.

Oh... read the article and that’s Galadriel in the photo Decker posted.
The background looks like Men in the background, and it’s weird to see her in armor.

Nice Vanity Fair spread (as usual), but the pics probably aren't going to help sway fans who are anxious about this series. (I'll count myself as one of them) The recasting is fine, I just wish Elrond had some resemblance to a young Hugo - was that who Will Poulter was to play? (man he'd have been perfect)

Well looks like they are staying very Medieval and using the same feel as Jackson's movies. Not sure it is exactly the way I would go, there needs to be some continuity but it needs to stand on its own. Looking forward to it, but it is a monumentus task.
