And Jack Ryan.

Amazon original series used to be stuff like Goliath and Sneaky Pete. Not terrible shows justÖforgettable. Over the last few years, Amazon has stepped up their original series game a bit and have released some decent stuff.

Don't know if anyone is aware, but season 1 will consist of 20 episodes!!

So 20 weeks it will be posted online. For those who said they want to "wait" and binge it, are you sure you want to wait until 2023 to watch it??

Yeah, I wish more new series on streaming would do slower drops. It keeps discussion going better.

Will season one be twenty consecutive episodes, or will they break it down into two parts with a gap between them?

Re: Lord of the Rings series coming to Amazon

Pretty impressive to get that many episodes. I wonder though if that means there will be a large gap between seasons.

We don't know yet. Since they have already wrapped filming and are going to spend almost 1 year in post production, they could be all done and ready to air consecutively. I mean that's a lot of episodes to stretch from late 2022 to early 2023.

I prefer slower drops too. I liked getting feedback between episodes of "The Mandalorian" and hope Lord of the Rings will be the same. I probably ran through the final series of Bosch too fast and was disappointed.

Re: Lord of the Rings series coming to Amazon

A new age begins September 2, 2022. Journey to Middle-earth with The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power

About "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power"
Amazon Studios’ forthcoming series brings to screens for the very first time the heroic legends of the fabled Second Age of Middle-earth's history. This epic drama is set thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, and will take viewers back to an era in which great powers were forged, kingdoms rose to glory and fell to ruin, unlikely heroes were tested, hope hung by the finest of threads, and the greatest villain that ever flowed from Tolkien’s pen threatened to cover all the world in darkness.

Beginning in a time of relative peace, the series follows an ensemble cast of characters, both familiar and new, as they confront the long-feared re-emergence of evil to Middle-earth. From the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains, to the majestic forests of the elf-capital of Lindon, to the breathtaking island kingdom of Nķmenor, to the furthest reaches of the map, these kingdoms and characters will carve out legacies that live on long after they are gone.

Should be interesting. Read the books 3x so I’m looking forward to this.

Re: Lord of the Rings series coming to Amazon

I hope this is good.

There's so many sci-fi and fantasy novels that I think would make great movies and/or TV, why not make one of those instead of adding something on, but I guess the name is what gets viewers.

Will this go as far back as the time of Melkor? Or after his fall but before the first rise of Sauron?

I don't think so.

As far as I know, this series takes place during the Second Age and will probably cover things like Sauron forging the Rings or Power, the Last Alliance, and the Fall of Numenor. I'd love to see them actually show the Breaking of the World, but that's just so weird and trippy that it might turn off general audiences.

From what I understand, Amazon doesn't have the rights to The Silmarillion and the stuff that happened in the First Age.

Re: Lord of the Rings series coming to Amazon

The music sounded slightly familiar but I don't think it's the same.
Is this supposed to be in the same continuity as PJ's Middle Earth? I thought he was a consultant or something.

Anyways, title is a bit on the nose but that's fine. It will get eyeballs on the screen.

Months ago Amazon released a teaser image that featured the two trees in the background, so we're at least getting flashbacks to eras before the Second Age. They'll probably start the series off the way Jackson started the LOTR movie, with a prologue.

One time I ordered something on Amazon and it showed up AN HOUR LATER. I hadn't even gotten up from the computer yet. I looked around suspiciously looking for cameras.

Re: Lord of the Rings series coming to Amazon

It's 8 episodes now, not 20 as it was originally announced but like 12 hours of content.
