I just don’t get how they’re passing up things with big names.
Maybe this will go to USA or TNT and have some edge.

Yeah might be better that this gets moved from a major network.
I'm sure if someone picks this up, there will be re-shoots.
But shopping shows rarely has success.

I hear talks are progressing between Charter Communications and Sony Pictures TV, and the two sides are now in serious negotiations for a series order to the studio’s LA’s Finest drama pilot starring Gabrielle Union and Jessica Alba.
Sony TV took out the action pilot, a spinoff from the Bad Boys movie franchise, immediately after the project’s original network, NBC, surprisingly passed on it 20 days ago. Charter Communications quickly emerged as a likely potential home, starting talks with Sony TV just days later. A deal now appears likely. Reps for Charter and Sony TV declined comment.
With its title recognition and A-list stars, L.A.’s Finest may be used as a key launching piece in Charter Communications’s recently announced strategy to introduce high-end original content on its Spectrum cable systems. The company signaled its entrance in the original scripted series arena by signing co-production deals with AMC Networks and Viacom and by hiring seasoned TV executive Katherine Pope to lead its original content efforts.
Charter, which counts savvy billionaire John Malone as a key stakeholder, is among many cable operators looking to provide content that can stem the tide of cord-cutters ending their pay-TV subscriptions.
With elaborate action sequences, LA’s Finest was one of the most expensive pilots this season, with its budget said to be around $12 million. It follows the Special Agent Syd Burnett character played by Union in 2003’s Bad Boys II as she moves to Los Angeles and joins the LAPD. In the pilot, written by Brandon Margolis and Brandon Sonnier and directed by Anton Cropper, the free-spirited former DEA agent Burnett has a fresh start in her new job as an LAPD detective. She’s partnered with Nancy McKenna (Alba), a working mom who can’t help but look at Syd’s freedom with some grass-is-greener envy.
L.A.’s Finest comes from Jerry Bruckheimer Television, Primary Wave, 2.0 Entertainment and Sony TV. Alba and Union executive produce alongside Sonnier Margolis, Bruckheimer, Belgrad, Jonathan Littman, KristieAnne Reed, Jeff Gaspin and Jeff Morrone.

Most expensive pilot of the season and it has to be shopped around? Sounds like this is DOA; especially if it ends on a Charter exclusive service.

Charter streaming service? Yeah good luck getting any kind of buzz for this show.

Bummer...with such a large budget the pilot should have a chance to be seen just because it is probably like watching a short action film.

LA’s Finest is go! Canadian broadcaster Bell Media has revealed that it has struck a deal with Sony Pictures Television for the Jessica Alba and Gabrielle Union-fronted spin-off of the Bad Boys film franchise. It will air the 13-episode series on one of its specialty entertainment channels.
As Deadline reported yesterday, Sony is in serious negotiations with Charter Communications to become the U.S. home for the series after NBC passed on the $12M pilot.
The series stars Union as Syd Burnett, last seen in Miami taking down a drug cartel, having left her complicated past behind to become an LAPD detective and pursue all the fun LA offers. But things get a little crazy when her new partner, Nancy McKenna, played by Alba, a working mom with an equally complex past, learns that Syd’s unapologetic lifestyle might be masking a greater personal secret. These two have completely different approaches and don’t agree on much, but they find common ground when it comes to taking on the most dangerous criminals in L.A. in this action-packed, character-driven drama.

Officially picked up by Spectrum. Will air as a Spectrum Original Series in the U.S. in 2019. 13 episodes ordered.
Meaning if you're not a subscriber to their cable or streaming services, you won't see it initially. It could be available on other platforms at a later time.
Sounds like Charter/Spectrum is trying to do something similar with DirecTV with the Audience Network.

I think this show would have been right up my alley but now like the CBS All Access shows it will never show up in my tv watching queue...oh well, I guess it frees up more time to watch other stuff.
I remember when folks would joke say 15-20 years back which was a time when I did not have cable (even basic) that you would spend a fortune to buy cable and discover that you now have 500 channels with nothing to watch while the opposite is true today.
Now you have more than 500 channels plus multiple streaming outlets so there is too much to watch in 5 lifetimes so making it harder for your show to stand out in the crowd does not strike me as the wisest course of action to take but such is life.
I guess Sony had already sunk enough money into the show that they needed any port in a storm to recover some of their investment.

Should have just folded her into Lethal Weapon. Back door pilot to merge the two film franchises!

In fact, Fox should have scrapped LW which has sadly turned into a hot mess and done some horse-trading with NBC so they could have ended up with a replacement for Lethal Weapon.

The Pilot reportedly cost $12M to produce. That’s one of the most expensive Pilots ever. Sony sunk a lot of money into it, so I can see why they were willing to take anything for it, including a low viewed distribution in the U.S. along with the Canadian distribution.

Just saw there was a thread for this already. Will LA's Finest be on Spectrum for months and then on another platforms for 2nd run rights or how long before it airs on another platform? If they want it for all subscribers won't Spectrum have to provide a linear broadcast? Could they create an exclusive chanmel like Directv has Audience?
President of Sony Pictures Television says 'Immediately we knew this innovative new platform was absolutely the right home for ‘L.A.’s Finest'. Does this mean LA's Finest won't be able to be seen by Charter's 14.6 million video subscribers? Are Charter developing a new TV app or what does he mean by 'innovative new platform'? If so it lessens again the amount of subscribers who will be able to see it.

How do you think they will? President of Sony Pictures Television says 'Immediately we knew this innovative new platform was absolutely the right home for ‘L.A.’s Finest'. Is he talking about an app or On Demand platform or what I wonder? I know TV Apps/Ondemand is the in thing right now but if Charter don't provide a traditional linear method of distribution also surely it lessens some subscribers of actually being able to see it? (Like Directv with Audience)

Manhunter nears two season pick up by Charter. Originally aired on Discovery last year for the Manhunt season.

Still no word on how they intend to distribute their original content to their subscribers? On Demand like Virgin TV in the UK? Subscribers will probably need an internet connection but not all subscribers will have adequate broadband?

This look like's something that would have been a huge hit on CBS on USA. Both actresses have been public figures for almost 2 decades so they have name brand value to the typical older CBS viewers, but they are also both known enough to young age demo friendly viewers due to their choice of past movies.
