(With that being said).

If I didn't know this show was "Dynasty", I would have thought it was a crappy mexican or brazillian soap opera with the actors speaking in english.

Just horrible!

Last I heard the new Dynasty was supposed to be continuation of the same people from the original focusing on Fallon who had now taken things over.

That was bad enough!

This rehash/remix/ripoff is like waking up on one of the multi-verses from FRINGE where Dynasty was a piece of shit instead of the camp classic I fondly remember growing up with as a child of the 80s!

Dynasty back in the 1980s really was the first prime time drama to trash things up and bring in more and more soap opera elements from daytime television. It made Dallas look tame by comparison. I always thought that Melrose Place in the 1990s was the spiritual heir to Dynasty.

Speaking of Melrose Place, I've heard rumours that the producers are trying to get Heather Locklear to join the show as Alexis, re-uniting her with her Melrose co-star Grant Show, who now plays Blake. She of course also played Sammy Jo on Dynasty.

The CW picks up Dynasty for a full 22 episode season.

You can thank the rich Netflix deal for saving it. It’s a Netflix original series overseas as I mentioned in my 1st post. The overnight ratings haven’t been good.

It's been trashy fun through five episodes. This is the type of show you can't binge but could watch casually on a week-to-week basis.

Did y'all see the ratings for Dynasty this week...scarier than any horror film that has come out this year. It could not even put up half of the numbers posted by Riverdale (which are nothing to crow about, but I know that plenty of folks dvr and watch later like myself). Even taking into account the bump Dynasty receives with time-shift viewing numbers I suspect we will hear that Dynasty has been cancelled before the week is up.

It is at best a background show for me...it feels like a show that never quite made it to the point of being what it wants to be and is a definite miss for the CW, not even a so bad it is good show kept alive by hate-watchers, it is just bad TV that will be cancelled soon.

See post #15

CW picked it up for a full season already. 22 episodes.

Heh.

They had to go with a D-lister (or F-lister).

It seems like Dynasty's producers and the CW, could not convince any B-list or C-list actresses to take on the Alexis role.

re: Dynasty (CW) -- Reboot of 80s soap -- Premieres 10/11/17

So 13 episodes have aired and I've watched all of them.

I'm sure most here aren't watching, but I'll share my thoughts anyways. After kind of a slow start, I've actually found this reboot quite entertaining. They've really gone through some over the top soap opera cliches, twists and turns. Latest episode, Sammy Joe's ex boyfriend, who is like crazy, gets into a fight with him, yanks out his earring and jumps out the window to commit suicide in order to frame him for murder.

1st of all, Liz Gillies (Fallon) is the star of the show, not Grant Show. Blake Carrington is more of a supporting character And I love her. She's great and chews up all the scenes she's in. And she's quite sexy.

Interesting thing to mention The Colby's are nothing like their 1980's counterparts. 1st of all, they're black as previously mentioned. Jason Colby (Charlton Heston in the original show) is now called "Cesil Colby" and he's played by Dubaku from 24....Hakeem Kae-Kazim. Jeff Colby has been speaking some unknown language with his Dad in jail. I guess it's some African language, so this family is not even American.

I how someone paid off the prison guard in stab himself in order to frame Cesil and get his parole denied, yet Jeff banged the Parole board head who overturned the decision. In the original series, Jeff Colby was truly in love with Fallon and they got married. This version he's using it as a ploy to destroy the Carrington's in order to get revenge for his Dad. Cesil thinks that Blake framed him on drug charges.

Last episode (13), Fallon figured out that Jeff is playing her and vowed to destroy him.

Crazy ass soap. I would literally have to write endless paragraphs to go through all the crazy twists that have happened.

Ratings have been horrible even though this show got a full season (mainly due to the International Netflix deal) and is being dumped to Fridays when it returns in March. Guess this will be a 1 and done season.

I'm guess that Alexis will appear at some point in the final 9 episodes.

Supposedly this show is getting renewed because its international syndication is a real moneymaker.

It's a trashy guilty pleasure. If you want to see wild soap action, it's fun at times.

Because it's not possible to be American and bilingual? FWIW, the Colbys in this version of Dynasty are of Nigerian origin and speak the Yoruba language as well as English.

Nicolette Sheridan is quite a hoot as Alexis. She's looking pretty good too.

^^ Sorry for some reason that didn't even cross my mind at the time I wrote it. Of course, Cesil's kids were obviously born and educated in the States.

Friday's episode with Alexis' debut didn't air until Saturday here in Los Angeles due to our local station simulcasting Dodgers baseball. I'm caught up prior that episode.

They really re-worked the Fallon and Jeff storyline here. Now they're bitter enemies after she figured out his plan.

For me, Liz Gillies has been the highlight. She's been great as Fallon.

Cecil was in the original Dynasty. That is who Alexis married on his death bed so she could acquire controlling interest in ColbyCo.

This version of Cesil is essentially taking up the Jason Colby role, who is the father of Jeff.

That version was Jeff's uncle.

Wow, the latest episode that aired was a fucking blast.

Nicollette Sheridan was awesome as Alexis. Loved Fallon going at her, tearing out her weaves, and their big pool fight. And I when she took out the gun and starting shooting.

Season finale aired on Friday.

Pretty wild episode. Big fire and some characters fates left hanging.

Although it was announced that Nicollette Sheridan will be returning as Alexis full-time next season.

After kind of a rocky start, it went full out soap opera crazy towards the end. I at Cristal and Alexis' big fight scene in the finale. And Blake was such a tool in this version.

Highlight for me was Liz Gillies as Fallon. She was fantastic.

By the second half of the season, virtually the entire show revolved around Fallon. The rest of the family all saw reduced roles as every storyline had to involve Fallon.

Guess she's not surviving that fire! Guess it'll revolve around Fallon vs Alexis vs Blake now.

Interesting. OK though - Fallon, Sammy, and Anders are the best parts of the show.
