The Opposition with Jordan Klepper

This show is just a carbon copy of The Colbert Report. Watch the show and imagine everything he's saying is in Stephen Colbert's voice and you'll see what I mean.

I hope it finds its own voice in time, but say what you will about Larry Wilmore, at least he had his own ideas.

Re: The Opposition with Jordan Klepper

Well, I'd liken The Colbert Report to Fox News, and The Opposition more to Breitbart or Info Wars. But yes, they're very similar in tone and execution.

Is that a bad thing? I've missed something like The Colbert Report. I've liked this enough so far to continue tuning in.

I gave the Nightly Show a couple weeks and then gave up. It just didn't interest me. I checked in a couple times a year, and it still was of no interest.

I wonder how long a show like this can sustain before it just becomes a real show on it's subject matter.

It's more a parody then the Colbert Show was.
We like it but do a bit of fast forwarding after the opening segment.

I'd have a hard time trying not to laugh if I was Klepper.

The other thing I wonder is how many Trump people wouldn't know this was a parody if they watched it going in without knowing.

I was really hoping this show would be more like Klepper's "on the street" segments he did on the Daily Show where he exposes idiots and hypocrites. I always loved his reporting.

I really wish CC had the balls to rerun Jordan Klepper Solves Guns special after the LV shooting. Probably the best thing he's done.

Agreed. I feel he's being wasted sitting behind a desk.

Klepper was probably the most caustic and pointed correspondent the Daily Show has had in many years, but I don't find his talents are ideally suited to this sort of pseudo-blowhard spoof (I never liked Colbert's show either). A straight news-comedy show would be much better, but then it would be just another Daily Show. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but Klepper & Co. clearly wanted to differentiate themselves.

I love the unadulterated acid tone of Full Frontal, much more so than TDS under Noah.

Did anyone catch the field pieces the Opposition did earlier this week about Breitbart? I thought it was probably some of the best stuff they've done; a nice, in-depth look at how Breitbart creates its fear mongering. I especially liked the end of Part 2 and the epic takedown of the Breitbart reporter.

I've pretty much given up watching this, even though it's not terrible, so I'm not surprised.

Tentatively titled Klepper, it will feature the comedian out in the field, traveling the country and speaking to people.
This is what I thought his show should have been all along.

Klepper is funny, but the Alex Jones parody just doesn't work for me. Perhaps because while it was funny when Colbert was aping O'Reilly during the Obama administration, now it's all just too real?

Hard to parody something that's ridiculous to begin with.

I agree.
Klepper was one of the best "reporters" the Daily Show has ever had IMO.

Last show was kinda weird.

I think he admitted that he was the bad guy and had a mental breakdown.
