Larry actually looked great, I am used to Jeff aging as I see him regularly on The Goldbergs, Cheryl looked great, Suzie looked good, and Ted also looked great. Richard Lewis jumped out at me tho..

I thought that everyone looked pretty much the same, except for Larry, who looked like he hasn't aged since the last season, and Lewis, who does look quite older.

I just looked it up and Cheryl is 52, as she looks amazing for her age. And I didn't realize she is married to a Kennedy.

Larry barely seems to have aged since the show started. Probably helps that he's always looked older though due to being mostly bald and having grey/white hair.

Re: Curb Your Enthusiasm (HBO) -- Season 9 Thread -- Premieres 10/1/17

This was my first time ever watching the show (I did not have cable/HBO for many years, and unlike The Wire where plenty of folks on-line pushed me into viewing the series on DVD back in the day, there was no push for this series), and without knowing the shows shtick I warmed up to it (it helps that I have seen many of the cast/people who put in cameos or are bit players in other series growing up). I am in as it did make me laugh, and at 30-40m max it moves along at a steady pace.

FYI - the documentary about the guy who was proven innocent in a murder trial due to being in the background of the Curb episode at Dodgers Stadium is now up on Netflix.

Juan Catalan was arrested for a murder he didn't commit. To save his life, all he had to do was prove he was one of 56,000 people at a Dodgers Game that night. That's where Larry David comes in....

Long Shot, now streaming on Netflix.

What made early Curb so great was the precise storytelling, how all these separate puzzle pieces came together in the end like a beautifully orchestrated magic trick.

It's been years since I watched the last two or three seasons, so maybe it's been off the rails for awhile and I don't remember. I thought this episode was contrived and sloppy. I'm assuming HBO just gives David free reign to do whatever he wants (a 40 minute episode? No problem Larry), and I think he would produce higher quality work with more limitations and less control.
I found the episode funny but agree that some judicious editing could have trimmed it down for more streamlined laughs. It felt padded to an unnecessary degree.

Definitely. I noticed it right away. It felt more glossier than most shows even.
In fact, for a second it felt like I was watching a movie.

Larry looked the same, but he looked like a really old man in the shower. If I just saw the shower clip without any indication that it was CYE, I wouldn't have known it was him

Richard Lewis is looking worse. He seems to be shrinking. He looks like an unhealthy Al Pacino.

Re: Curb Your Enthusiasm (HBO) -- Season 9 Thread -- Premieres 10/1/17

I had to travel for work on Monday, so I was busy Sunday when it was on. I saved it to my iPad to watch on the flight. As I was waiting for the flight, a couple of guys mentioned it, so I had to make a 'no spoilers' request to them. They assured me it was good, and I sat watching it, on my flight, at times giggling like an idiot.

So glad to have this back. I agree, everyone looked a bit older, but it still felt like Curb.

I'm guessing, that due to the death of Shelley Berman being so recent, they probably won't address it on the show. Larry's dad telling him about his mother dying remains one of my favourite scenes from CYE.

He only died like six weeks ago, the shows were already shot.

I was hoping he'd make a final appearance this season, but it sounds like he would have been too sick to participate.

Can't wait for the second episode tonight. Clocks in at 36 minutes and there may be some even longer than the premiere according to one article I read a few days ago.

Great episode again. I love Larry's disguise and his fake name . Also enjoyed his conversation with the prostitute and the cookies and tongs interaction with the hotel staff. The scenes with Marty and Kenny and the pickle jar were great too. Loved Larry and Marty's conversation about not being able to masturbate with their other hand too .

Not to mention the callback to the funniest CYE episode and scene ever!

I like the disguise. It hides the Jew.

Kind of looked like him, but no. Oddly enough, it was Jim Rash, the Academy Award winner screenwriter of The Descendants .

Terrific episode. Funhauser is always welcome to see. The interaction between Larry and Leon is gold. His disguise is perfectly ridiculous.

I noticed an odd moment during the second cookie tong discussion, where it looked like one of the extras was using his phone to snap a picture of Larry. I'd assume you're not allowed to bring your phone on set, and likely he was just acting like a tourist, but it seemed odd because his camera was aimed right at the trio of actors and there was no reason for his "character" to be snapping a picture of them. He was gone right in the very next shot.

Community made that exact joke about Jim Rash (more specifically, Jim Rash's doppelganger).

Re: Curb Your Enthusiasm (HBO) -- Season 9 Thread -- Premieres 10/1/17

I guess I'm in the minority but I thought that was a terrible episode, with the exception of Leon. Leon is pretty much saving this show so far as he is the only funny one as every character and situation just seemed forced. It happens to all great shows once they jump the shark.

Not as funny as the premiere, but still good. I watch these things multiple times.

I love how much Leon is in this season.

The disguise is priceless. I laugh every time I see it.

Also loved the "Larry" guy that Mary Steenburgen was dating.
