Will & Grace (NBC) -- Revival Series Thread -- Premieres 9/28/17
Well, whaddya know: Will & Grace‘s recent web-based reunion has stirred interest in a full-fledged revival.
TVLine has learned that NBC is in preliminary talks with the sitcom’s six principal players — series creators David Kohan and Max Mutchnick, and stars Eric McCormack, Debra Messing, Megan Mullally and Sean Hayes — about doing a limited-run of original episodes. It’s not clear when the episodes would air and how many there would be.
An NBC spokesperson declined to comment for this story.
Late last month, the show’s Emmy-winning quartet reprised their roles for a 10-minute, present-day, election-themed video set inside the title characters’ iconic apartment. The project was spearheaded by Kohan and Mutchnick and without the involvement of NBC.
The YouTube-based mini-episode received a rapturous reception from fans, many of whom were eager for more.
“The response has been very overwhelming and really, really heartwarming,” Messing told People.com at the time. McCormack, meanwhile, was upbeat about the possibility of a larger-scale continuation, telling the site, “We’d all be interested to get that call, I think.”

Re: Will & Grace Revival Eyed at NBC
NBC has yet to officially announce it’s moving forward with a Will & Grace revival, but Karen Walker’s beloved frenemy may have just let the cat out of the bag.
In a recent interview with radio station KPBS, Leslie Jordan — who won an Emmy for his role as Beverly Leslie — came forth and insisted that NBC has already commissioned a 10-episode follow-up to begin shooting next summer.
“It’s back,” Jordan said. “Here’s the way it works: [NBC] has ordered 10 [episodes]. It’ll be for next season, so they’ll go in in July.”
Back in October, TVLine reported that NBC was in preliminary talks with the sitcom’s six principal players — series creators David Kohan and Max Mutchnick, and stars Eric McCormack, Debra Messing, Megan Mullally and Sean Hayes — about doing a limited-run of original episodes. Buzz about a potential revival came in response to the release of a 10-minute, present-day, election-themed video which found the Emmy-winning quartet reprising their roles in support of Hillary Clinton.

I wonder how this will affect McCormick doing S2 of Travelers for Netflix.

Are people excited for this? I never really watched the show when it was on originally, and I really haven't seen anything yet on the new one that makes me want to. Seems like they are only trying to appeal to people that were already fans of the show.

I watched every episode of the original series but agreed it was time for it to end when it did.
I figured this would be the same old thing watching the reboot but it was more like coming back to see old friends again.
They did a great job resetting things to 2017 (even if they did throw out huge parts of the season finale storyline). The actors have such good chemistry it was like the show ended yesterday. I can't believe it's actually been 11 years!
I don't know if it has the same impact anymore for gays. The young kids will probably shun it as a show for 'old people' but for fans of the first run of the series I felt like this getting together with old friends, cliche as it may be.
What other show has references to Grindr and Queerty? What other audience would even know what they mean?
Also, I loved the new spin on the theme music! It really captures the nostalgia and makes it feel like the show has only gotten better with age. Based on the first episode I'd say that was true.

"Will & Grace" is one of the best sitcoms of all-time IMO. Save for the last season, that was terrible. Even the season prior to that was mostly not so great. But it's up there with my favorites. "Seinfeld', "Cheers", "Curb", "Roseanne", etc. So I was thrilled NBC was bringing it back. I watched the first episode tonight of the "reboot". It was bumpy here and there, but mostly very funny and extremely entertaining. Jack had the best lines. All of them in fact were laugh out loud funny. It wasn't necessarily the writing, but his delivery was so perfect. Karen, sadly, was the weakest link. Which was pretty shocking. She's normally the funniest character. Her best bits were telling Grace she signed her name to Trump's birthday card, sitting on the couch on the oval office like Kellyanne Conway (best part of tonight's show), and the Pat Nixon drink order. I'd give this first episode a solid 8/10. It was so thrilling to see an old favorite return. I just sat there smiling like an idiot the whole time. Can't wait for more!

Well, that didn't take long for them to get back to the stunt plots. The shower filling up with water? Really??

I stopped watching the series two or three seasons before it ended, and while I liked this season premiere in an "oh yeah, these guys are funny" way, the second episode made me say to my wife, "I remember why we stopped watching this show".
I'll give one or two episodes, but I think I'll be out soon.

Maybe I am in the minority here but I think has been one of the strongest seasons since the show started.
I thought last night's episode was hilarious. I love how they are bringing back guest stars and recurring characters from the early seasons to catch up on what has happened to them.
And seeing Will and Grace dealing with being on the wrong side of 40, alone and single in NYC after failed relationships has made the usual sitcom buffoonery seem fresh.
This is the only show that can make me laugh out loud anymore and that's saying something for my cynical jaded ass!
Give this show a chance if you haven't. I'm loving it!

I really hate continuity errors... and there was one that skipped by so quickly, I had to rewind it to make sure.
In the first part of "The Wedding" (s09e10), while Will and Vince are talking about the lasagne dish, Vince has a fork in his hand as he sings then the frame cut to Will's comment and Vince has a coffee mug in his hand instead.
This stuff just irks me.

Another meh episode last night. At least we were spared from Grace's bad singing. They've beat that horse to death. Karen's role was minimal, and Will was just plain annoying.

I have five that I have not watched yet. The magic is just not there for me...
What was sort of shocking back when the show started is now just not nor funny not matter how hard they try to push the envelope.
The gal who plays Karen (Megan Mullally) is still hot though.
