Survivor (S35E01) -- "I'm Not Crazy, I'm Confident" - 9/27/17
THE CASTAWAYS BATTLE TO PROVE WHICH GROUP HAS WHAT IT TAKES TO WIN - HEROES, HEALERS OR HUSTLERS - ON THE 35th SEASON PREMIERE OF "SURVIVOR," WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 27
"I'm Not Crazy, I'm Confident" - The castaways battle to prove which group has what it takes to win - Heroes, Healers or Hustlers. Also, one tribe will earn an advantage when the game is immediately "ignited" by the season's first challenge, and there is a super idol that comes with a new twist, on the 35th season premiere of SURVIVOR, Wednesday, Sept. 27 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

No surprise with Tribal. Katrina was clearly an outsider in that group.
I already dislike Alan. He's kind of a dick. And how is he a hero? An average 9-year NFL CB makes you a hero?
Blah I didn't need to have to camera show Chrissy puking.
Kind of a meh premiere. No one really stands out as really interesting yet.

So far there are more people to root against than for, which could lead to a mediocre season for me.

Nobody likable, no eye-candy and the new definition of a "hero" is a real stretch, IMO.
The woman who worked, then stayed at home as a mom, then went back to work is a "hero"?? How about a single mom who works and makes it happen for her kids??

First ep didnt do much for me, except the guy going crazy over an idol and the other guy dropping his pants. I really wish they would drop the team themes and just go back to basics.

What a generic cast. Nobody stands out except maybe the weirdo former NFLer.
And yeah I don't know how you can cast a season of this without a single hottie. Just a total fail.

Alexandrea and Simone are cute. I will notice if Alexandrea is no longer on the show if she gets out voted out early in the game, and yeah...I am shallow when it comes to the contestants on this show and do hope some of the eye candy sticks around for a bit. Like Dalton Ross at EW, I like the bellhop dude and hope he goes far, along with the urologist as they seem like contestants I can root for this season.

Kind of hard to get a feel for folks from this episode.
I dislike the 3 tribe seasons, tribes are too small and you almost have to immediately get into an alliance, and then the tribes will be switched up when it becomes unbalanced. Also means less interaction, and airtime on the tribes is split 3 ways so it becomes harder to understand the tribe dynamics on the winning tribes.

Maybe on one of the future seasons they will not feel compelled to cast obvious, old, first to be voted off folks. But that is as likely to happen as them not doing another fake, manufactured, theme that they bludgeon viewers over the head with all season.
Hopefully this improves because I found nobody likable enough to root for during that first episode. Worst is their obvious attempt to cast another Cochran. Do they not realize how many fans can't stand that douche?

Overall it seems like a season with relatively fit people, and no one too far outside of the 20-35 year old age range.

Maybe others would feel differently, but I would like to see at least one season without a stupid fake theme and without the few people that are not physically fit at all. If it must have a theme, divide them by region of the country (West vs. East).

The lady who was voted out despite being older was an Olympian Swimmer while the older lady who stayed passed out after the challenge. I am guessing a lot why the one who was voted out was left hidden since Production wanted to edit around Idol twist drama.

Yeah, I knew she was an Olympian because I'd read her bio for the DVDTalk game, but otherwise she's the only one who mentioned it, and in her exit. But they can't tell everyone's backstory in the first episode.
