(Some crazy speculation).
Here's an outsider's speculation on what the purpose of All Access might be.
https://www.tvgrimreaper.com/2017/09...leverage/2983/
The writer attempts to argue that CBS All Access has more to do with "leverage" when it comes to negotiating retransmission fees with cable/satellite providers.
It reads almost like a lousy business case written by an MBA student.

If there is no legal regulation which forces mandatory public disclosure to be this precise in 10K (or 10Q) reports filed with the SEC, then most likely CBS won't say anything about it that is meaningful.
The only way we'll know for sure, is voluntary disclosure by CBS and/or Les Moonves mentions anything about it on-the-record.

I also tend to wonder how many people are pirating it? Probably far more than who signed up for All Access.

I don't know if you're aware, but the show was co-created by Bryan Fuller, who was a writer on Star Trek Voyager. Before Fuller left day to day production, he wrote the scripts for the 1st 2 episodes.
Another member of the writing staff Kirsten Beyer has written several Star Trek novels.
Nick Meyer, one of the Producers and Writers, directed Star Trek II and VI
Alex Kurtzman, co-creator and Producer, produced the recent reboots with Pine and Quinto.
They didn't pull recent college grads off the street. They got some people on this with some Star Trek credibility.
You can't please everyone, especially with a brand name that has 50+ years of Canon.

This would have been the perfect time for Star Trek: The Third Generation. On the Enterprise. No continuity no repetition, new advanced technology and a virtually blank state. I have to believe that this brain trust was forced into this time period.
On the first episode, I disliked the first officer a LOT. Sarek appearing is eye rolling. The plot was trite and tired. It looked beautiful. The Klingons came across awfully bad in my opinion. Klingon sounds stupid. Made up languages have come a long way. Not sure I care to see the rest. I skipped the last series anyway.

I watched the first 2 .... some decent parts, but I really do not care for many of the characters, the Klingons were bad ... it was like watching a Klingon Mass the whole time, not much personality there. Plot wise, it was fine .. but it really had a been there/done that feel. Visually, it looked good for sure.
I'll watch the next few ... and probably the whole season .. because I generally really like Trek, am glad I stuck through some bad season 1/2 Next Generation episodes and I am a sucker for TV sci-fi

Ok, I'll admit I'm a terrible Trek fan. I've watched the original several times over and I've watched the movies but I just couldn't watch the other shows on a consistent basis. At least not enough to keep up with the story lines.
I watched the 2 episodes here and it doesn't give me the feel of Star Trek. The battle scene was decently done, I'll give them that. The characters leave a lot to be desired. I'll watch the 3rd episode and take it week by week. They same as I said for the others but like I said they were dropped as they were mutations of the original.

Saw the episodes and they were entertaining enough. Some of the effects looked great but when we first see the Enterprise (whatever version it is) - it looks odd, because it's completely CG. At least the previous ones spanning however many decades were always a model or cg enhanced model that carried some actual weight -- it felt there. This one did not, but the Klingon armada was really cool. These first episodes obviously played like an appetizer and Jason Isaacs and crew will be the main course.

I'm looking forward to seeing Discovery's version of the Ferengi.

"you're making this complicated" is basically the feeling here. Yes, redemption story arc. I give no shits about. The whole secrecy of Discovery is just annoying

I enjoyed this episode (episode 3) much more than the first 2. It still doesn't feel like Star Trek but it was good Science Fiction. Maybe there's some hope for this yet..

Holographic transmissions? That was a new tech starfleet tried during DS9, shouldn't be happening here.
Seems like this is jjverse tv. An actual window on the bridge instead of a view screen, klingons look more like jj ones
don't like the guy playing Sarek. Speaking of Sarek he answers a holocall immediately with no delay?
They said phase cannons initially then phasers later.
I did like that their pistols had the three lenses on the end like the pistols in the cage
the red alert sound is right, I heard sick bay sounds from TOS
they had some kind of armor when they raided the klingon ship. It's about time

Blah blah blah DS9 , yea it was darker in tone to the other shows of the time and from time to time. But please give me a break. 3 episodes in and this show is nothing but dark. Hell this last episode they pretty much just said hell with Starfleet rules, lets run around be loose cannons. If the one theory going around isn't true then this show isn't even close to trek in any way what so ever.

Loved the 3rd episode. The Discovery seems like a neat ship, I enjoyed the mystery and the moral ambiguity of what they were doing. And Michael got to say “shit” so I guess the paywall is doing its job
Really curious to see where this goes. Being on a warship is a nice change of pace.

Based on the ship's NCC number -
If so, this could get real interesting.

Yea Orbi that's the ONLY thing that makes any kind of sense as far as to them not just pissing all over everything Trek is and stands for...
