There's a 1 month free trial for CBS All Access with the code FALL today if people want to binge the first season.

I don't know what else is on there but I have poor OTA reception so I might get it just to stream the local channel. ABC and NBC stream their locals for free but CBS has it locked behind All Access' pay wall which sucks.

I bought the first season on iTunes, and I've watched 12 episodes. This is a great premise, told very well, great acting and effects - but it doesn't feel like Trek. I know that it's the story of how the Federation becomes the (mostly) benevolent society we all know and love. Still, I'm really enjoying this.

Tempted to grab the Blu-ray as I see it’s down to $35. Wouldn’t mind seeing if it gets cheaper though as I wound up paying more for all the other seasons I have and a lot of them dipped to $20 or less.

Still waiting for the eventual UHD release. I honestly don't care if they release it in 4k, the HDR makes the difference here.

I just watched the 4 "Short Treks" shorts at a friends house and they were quite good- the first and most recent one in particular. If you can only watch one, just watch the last one- The Escape Artist which is a Harvey Mudd story directed by Rainn Wilson, it's the best of the bunch by far.

I'm sure this information is available online somewhere but I can't find it. Does anyone know what time the new episodes of Discovery are going to be available?

Re: Star Trek: Discovery (CBS All-Access) -- Season 1 Thread -- Premieres 9/24/17

I'm in the middle of a free trial of All Access. I watched the first 3 episodes, but I'm not hooked. Does this take a little time to get into? I like Trek, but I'm not a die-hard fan who has seen all of the series. I liked the new movies a lot overall and most of the original ones.

I was also surprised to see it have more than 10 episodes for a season. I just figured they'd want to keep the budget in check for this, especially early on.

Yes, S1 hits its stride by episode 5-6 IIRC. But S2 has been fantastic from jumpstreet.

Ok, thanks. I'll give it a few more.

I did think it was cool how they first two episodes were essentially a prologue.

May be old news but it's still cool. Frankly, I can't wait for the new batch of Fans...and Haters... created by this show.

Star Trek: Discovery season 1 getting actual TV airing in the US

Star Trek: Discovery's first seasonis set to air on actual US TV this autumn, as CBS scrambles to fill its fall schedule during the ongoing corona virus pandemic.

Due to a huge number of production delays within the industry over the last few months, the broadcaster has been forced to revisit some of its most popular streaming shows, and have them act as back-ups for gaps that would have typically been occupied by new titles and further installments of existing ones.

It's about damn time. Whether or not you like ST to me a reboot on trek was all about gaining new fans. So if a long time fan like me doesn't like it as much at least new trek would mean a new audience. BUT YOU CAN'T DO THAT BEHIND SOME STUPID PAYWALL FOR A DUMB STREAMING SERVICE THAT NOBODY WANTS.
