Hope they all die!

Seriously, this last season hasn't been good at all.

What the hell was that shit!? (Just trying to be the first one to say it; we'll see what happens). Seems like a lot of ground to cover for a series finale ...

I'm very happy this show is over. This show had such a good first season and premise, it's really hard to pinpoint where everything started going wrong. My favorite thing about the finale is that they didn't even mention Rhona Mitra's character, unless I missed it.

Re: The Strain (S4E10) -- Series Finale -- "The Last Stand" -- 9/17/17

Decent finale but predictable.

Series had a lot of potential but became repetitive. Not a bad way to spend an hour, but just as with Falling Skies and others which ran out of fresh ideas, it was time for it to end.

I imagine that Quinlan & Fet were the two favorite characters of most, followed by Dutch and the Professor.

Haven't read the books yet. Picked up #1 & #3 at thrift stores/library sales; still waiting to run across the middle installment.

Even with its flaws, still liked it better than Under the Dome, Revolution, and (currently) Zoo.

Ugh, Zack got his redemption after all. And Eph was an idiot for charging the Master when all he had to do was set off the nuke at that point. Almost ended up blowing it for everyone with that move.

You have to keep in mind that Eph has always been a foolish, self-destructive character for the run of the series.

And now I'm sad. I enjoyed the series faults and all. I'll probably re-read the trilogy again -- those books are so layered and feature so much more than the series ever did in terms of scale and scope. It's shitty that FX cut it one season short -- it should have always been 5 seasons instead of 4.

Uh-huh.

Echoing the sentiments that have been said already. All in all I enjoyed the ride. At first I hated this feel-good, everything returns to normal ending. But as I think about it, given the depths the series had sunk to this was about as good an ending as we were going to get.

I haven't read the third book yet, but from what I have heard, I'll take the ending we got here over where it could have gone.

While I would have liked a fifth season, the show got a little too lost in the weeds. I think it is a good thing that it was cut short. That is possibly one of the biggest challenges with tolerating The Walking Dead ... they know they aren't going anywhere so they are in no hurry to tell a story -- it shows.

creekdipper's comparison to Falling Skies is a good one. I loved the shit out of the first three or so seasons of FS, but by the end ... well, I never even watched the finale. Here we had one strong season (the first), a solid season, and then a steady decline as it seemed they were just filling time.

Thank you FX, thank you GDT, and thank you to the cast and crew of The Strain. I didn't always love you, but I look back with fond memories.

Wow. This sure went out with a whimper. I kept holding out hope that this season was building to a big payoff in the finale. What a disappointment.

Sadly I feel the same way. I even go further than others in feeling the majority of the first two seasons were solid. It's some of S3, and the vast majority of this last season where everything went to shit.

Once the show stopped going back in time to set up the characters it lost its direction. Which there is no excuse for given the source material existed if they were to follow it.

There was a time shortly after S2 ended that I considered picking this series up on BD. Sadly back the day I purchased Prison Break seasons 1 and 2 on DVD before knowing how badly S3 and S4 would be. So glad I held off buying The Strain.

They tried to redeem Zack, but they failed just like so many other things they tried to wrap up and resolve at the end.

yeah, that was a really bad attempt of a redemption arc. That kid was just bad all around.

This last season was kinda meh. I'm glad I watched the show, but I'm not really going to miss it.

The way the last season went, it's probably a good thing.

Exactly. The rights to the quality source material was exclusively theirs. Absolutely no excuse for that kind of drop off no matter how much they fast-tracked the conclusion.

I've not read the books, so I didn't know if the storyline was followed throughout, but the pacing and delivery was pretty bad. Never mind the poor acting by the kid.

Glad the show has ended, the finale was satisfying enough, i do like wrapped up endings if a show is finishing

I won't ever rewatch this show but don't regret the 4 seasons

Only about two and half years late, but just finished the final season. Surprised at the disappointment here - I actually enjoyed season four more than prior seasons. They wrapped up just about every arc they could in a mostly satisfying way. Surprised they offed Zac, the kid really deserved it by the end.

If anything, it's season one that sticks out from the rest of the series. I'd much rather watch the vampire apocalypse than what we got from season one.

Completely agree! Surprised at the disappointment. I found it satisfying.
