A bit too much disbelief, even for a ST parody. Not bad though. I'd say I enjoyed it more than I expected to. The nods to both ST and SW were clear.

I went in with low expectations, and enjoyed it. My wife (who usually hates SciFi) also enjoyed it. When the episode was done, she asked "is there another one we can watch?"
I would love if this show got a bit more serious as it goes on, using the humor more sparingly to develop relationships among the crew.

It would be cool if MacFarlane to get some Trek alum like Patrick Stewart or Jeri Ryan to guest star as characters that are 180 from their Trek characters.

I think this could be a good drama, with some lighthearted elements. It's a good Star Trek show, especially if they concentrate on "these are REAL people, with real issues." unlike the perfect people on the Federations flagship. "We have 3000 ships to staff" means you could have a nice Star Trek series with people who are flawed, and some comedy thrown in. Right now some of the comedy feels like they are trying too hard. I don't mind the marble joke, or the dog background, or the ogre. That feels real. The more blatent stuff feels wrong though.
Also, I liked "Arbor Day" better.

I'm really surprised how many people liked the show. It's the same exact juvenile humor straight out of his animated shows which haven't been funny in years. I didn't laugh once. Not only that, I found it boring.

This was not so good. The thing I like the most was the office humor (wanting to drink soda on deck, wearing shorts, etc).

I know you mean more famous ST alum but don't forget the Doctor on The Orville is Sisko's GF from Deep Space 9.

I enjoyed it, too. I don't think it was great or anything, and like others have mentioned, was a bit scattershot. But I'm definitely in.

It was ok. The editing on it was terrible as we're the breaks to where they went to commercial. I will keep watching but I doubt it will get much better.

I do think it's an awful name for a show. It's not particularly catchy and doesn't help sell the show at all.
Due to Hurricane Irma, they haven't released ratings for the premiere yet.

So far so good (B- to B, +1 or 7.5 or so). We had some chuckles (banana, marbles - how many takes to nail the dish?). We'll keep watching

I got the vibe that the only reason they have the comedy bits is so they can make a small argument that it's actually a spoof of Star Trek. If they were to push this as an out and out sci-fi series then I think they would be courting serious copyright issues.

Watched my recording of this the other day. It was pretty much what I expected given the network and stars. It's kind of a spoof lite sort of vibe. It's just going to come down to how well they can walk that line.
I guessing it's a one and done sort of season given the way Fox cans stuff on the regular but I'm a sucker for the theme. Even for those that did not like the show, ya got to admit that the way they solved their little space problem near the end was pretty cool. lol
How many trek eps of the same theme just ended by way of BS tachyons once again solving everything or just using the deflector shield? Where as for this show, I've never seen or even thought of how the first ep solved a spaceship problem.
It even has pretty decent CGI.
again, clearly it's not getting a huge run here but it should be a fun few months of shows.

You really can't judge a show by it's pilot in the long run, -Pilots have bigger budgets, and a lot of things, -the tone, the characters, -get sorted out when they get down to the "regular" run of the series.

Yes! The first 5-7 episodes of any show are usually odd when looking back. Watching 30 Rock before episode 10-or-so, and it's like a different show. Animated shows are usually locked in for the first season.

Did anyone notice that this first episode was directed by Jon Favreau?

The perils of starting a show right before you should be sawing logs, as I am this close to completing the show. I have seen enough that I found it to be a fun watch and eagerly await episode 2.
Also, Deadline and I am sure other sites now have the final ratings numbers...it was a solid debut and actually got adjusted up. If there is a halfway decent hold for the second and third episodes we should at least get a full season. I have only seen a small handful of Original Trek, ditto for Next Generation, maybe 2 episodes (including The Trouble With Tribbles crossover) of Deep Space Nine, all of Voyager and Enterprise.
I have also seen a ton of other sci fi films shows, but not even close to being a trekkie so that probably helped me enjoy the show because I have not steeped myself in the Star Trek Universe and not comparing it to a "superior" show keeps me from nitpicking flaws that others will be all over.
