I think it's very solid, I think it's only 8 eps? I will def stick that out if that's the case.

I'm a sucker for anything 70's, I even watched the crapfest of Vinyl, but this is much better imho.

Just watched the second episode and it's good. This one focused more on the girls and the side hustles they have to go through to get by. Franco(s) were only in it for a bit. The girl featured prominently in the beginning was great -- that was some proper thickness.

I'm digging this show. Very Wire-esque in its execution. I watched the first two over the weekend and found myself looking forward the third episode. I'm in for the season.

I'm glad to hear you're enjoying it. I'm not happy when shows fail. I don't have the mentality that people who like shows I don't must have bad taste or are stupid.

By far the worst thing about the show is Gyllenhaal's chest. Oof.

Haha. The braless look certainly doesn't do her any favors.

Renewed. But HBO has backed out of renewals in the past. So we'll see if it sticks.
Probably not.

Too many scenes with the hookers.

I will watch the entire season but Vinyl was way better.

No mention of last night's episode? I thought it was the best, so far.

Poor Candy! Wasn't a pleasant episode, for her.

Nice Clarke Peters cameo in the finale.

Simon and Pelecanos said in an interview with Sepinwall they expect to do two more seasons with

Spoiler:
A big time jump between each season. Season 2 will take place in the late 70s and season 3 in the mid 80s. They also said some of the cast won’t be back.

It was renewed already.

But as mentioned earlier in the thread, HBO has rescinded renewals before. I don't think that will happen here though.

Funny I never saw any boners.

I remember from the last episode where that Asian girl pulled up her underwear and you saw her ass (body double?) and that was nice.

I forgot about this until I saw a promo for season 2 last week which premieres on Sun Sept 9 or the first Sunday of the 2018 NFL season.

The Deuce (HBO) -- Season 2 Thread -- premieres 9/9/18

<iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/2U3f9aDvJGA" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Chronicling the rise of pornography and the multibillion-dollar industry's transformation of American culture, the critically acclaimed drama series THE DEUCE, created by George Pelecanos and David Simon, returns for its nine-episode second season SUNDAY, SEPT. 9 (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET/PT), exclusively on HBO. Resuming five years after the culmination of the first season, THE DEUCE returns to the world of 1977, capturing the Times Square area of midtown New York at its most garish and volatile. The series is also available on HBO NOW, HBO GO, HBO On Demand and affiliate portals. Amid a city that is as culturally dynamic as it is dystopic, the show finds its protagonists living at the apex of the Golden Age of Porn, when the dream of a mainstream X-rated film business is a suddenly a credible reality, and the culture of pornography and its blatant commodification of sex is finding increasing traction among more and more Americans. Disco and punk are in full swing, and police corruption and political tolerance for New York's midtown demimonde is at its height. And the Mafia, the early backer of pornography at the moment when courts declared for its legality, is now seemingly poised to reap great profits. A comparable - and, in some ways, more professional - porn industry is rising on the West Coast as well. But for now, New York is holding its own in a city flush with movies, music and art, as the drug-fueled party rages around the clock.
9 episode second season. It jumps ahead 5 years.
