Yeah, I haven't fully thought the season rankings through, but this one was probably the worst. Still entertaining but more problematic than any of the others - especially with plot contrivances and pacing issues. GRRM looks better than ever and gets a measure of schadenfreude for this one - his intricate pacing and delicate touch was certainly missed.
Which season was the non-stop Theon torture? That would be my choice for second-worst regardless of whatever else happened that year.
Question now is : Will the problems of this season be enough to override the show's popularity 12 months from now and will it still be able to win its third consecutive Best Drama Emmy or will voters turn on it and punish them for the disappointing season the same way they did for The Americans this year?

While I understand the criticism of Benioff and Weiss for this season, I will still give them the benefit of the doubt to finish strong, because Season 6 was great and I don't think none of that material was in the books. It is probably hard to adapt these last two seasons with just bullet points from GRRM. GRRM has the benefit of taking 5-7 years to map out and write each book. Benioff and Weiss have like 18 months to produce, write and finish someone else's story.

Truthfully, the show's viewership numbers probably are indeed fine. With it known to everyone that there are only six episodes left, no one is going to stop watching at this point. The writing early next season would have to be astronomically bad, far worse than this season, which it won't be. In poker terms, we are all pot committed.

Just watched the whole season in a bit over a day (stayed spoiler free), love these kinds of watching binges, could not stand the week to week wait for a show like this
Obviously mostly a set up season, with some cool moments
It was very cool seeing characters who have never appeared together appear in the same scenes. The gathering of everyone at Kings Landing was especially cool,, seeing Jon, Danys, Cersi, Jaime, Brienne, Hound, Mountain, Tyrion etc in the same scene
I'm glad the arya/sansa/littlefinger storyline wasn't drawn out and had a satisfying ending
Yes i know there were time travel issues this season, but hell this is a fantasy tv show
The battle action scenes this season were all spectacular, movie quality and then some
arya sparring with Brienne was a highlight, showed the evading counter attack style of Arya and i loved the Hound and Brienne's conversation about Arya at Kings landing
Overall i am still not feeling the army of the dead/white walker storyline. I know it's pivotal, but just being able to resurect everything including a dragon just seems like weaksauce
I expected the wall to have way more defences and traps
Bran as the three eye raven is just a pompus brat, don't like him
let's face it, GOT kills everything else just about on TV

Which episode did the 3 eyed raven tell Bran, “You’ll never walk again, but you will fly.” Will Bran warg into the Ice Dragon to defeat the dead army?

Episode 4x10 is when the Three Eyed Raven tells Bran that he will fly. My theory:

You know, while I love good visuals and all, I still find it's the lower key season finales that always work best for me. Nothing I've seen on this series , or anyone for that matter has had a season finale whose last minutes work as well as the clip below. Maybe it's the music, but it still beats long shots of boats and dragons.

Now with only one season left.. I'm sure the spin-off talk will commence..
I thought of a few..
* Pie making with Arya
* Everybody loves Cersi
* Professional rowing with Gendry
* Sam's book reviews
* The Hound comedy hour for stupid cun ts
* Jon's paternity test talk
Lots of options..

Sure, if Arya still wants to take out Cersei & The Mountain, then posing as Littlefinger would be an easy way to enter the Red Keep. She'll have to do it quick though, as word will spread quickly of his death.

I don't think Cersei would be welcoming Littlefinger after he gave Sansa to the Boltons.

no i think Arya's best bet is just a servant girl, someone cersi is familiar with and sees often enough to not raise alarms but maybe not cersi's personal servant so she isn't quite that familiar with tiny mannerisms
of course because they have done this with Walder frey, they will want to do something different

Anyone else not really feeling the night king and the zombie army as much of a villian ?
Yes they are powerful, but i just don't feel anything when any of them get killed, they are just so generic
There has been no proper backstory set up and no real demonstration of personality or evil other than their animal instincts to kill
Compare that to deaths of littlefinger and walder frey, you have all the emotion of the deaths they have caused

Re: Game of Thrones (S7E07) -- "The Dragon and the Wolf" -- 8/27/17 -- Season Finale
It dawned on my while watching this past season that this show boils down to a zombie show. For all the magic and dragons it's going to be about zombies. You don't feel anything when a zombie dies. It's a flaw IMO but can be worked around if they make us feel for the other characters.
