Re: Game of Thrones (S7E05) -- "Eastwatch" -- 8/13/17

So the great war for the seven kingdoms that the audience thought they were getting is already over (at least for now) and the master plan is to capture a wight and bring it to Cersei in order to convince her to help in some way? In fact, this idea is so compelling that Tyrion smuggles himself into King's Landing on a mission with a high probability of ending in his death to...what, grease the diplomatic skids before they even have a wight? The King of the North leads a small, merry band on this mission himself that conveniently includes the Brotherhood and a handful of nameless Star Trek red shirts who are sure to die.

Yeah, this show continues to be entertaining but this writing is just getting awful.

More like a Redditor. That joke has been a staple on /r/gameofthrones for a couple of years now. That said, it is amusing that they paid homage to it.

I'm not liking the plan to have a cease fire with Cersei. Tyrion knows her way too well to think that would work. I hope there is more to their plan, otherwise this seems like a big misstep story wise. Still enjoyed the episode and loved seeing a Baratheon swing the hammer around. Hard to beat last week's episode (which imo was the best hour of television I've ever watched), but lots a good pieces falling in to place in this one.

I thought it is really dumb too. I guess the only payoff would be
Spoiler:
if Cersei decide to join the army of the dead and become a white walker after realizing she will never win. It fits in with her line "rather die fighting"

Sam gave the book to the kid so I guess it was packed up and taken with his stuff when they left.

It only mentioned Rhaegar Targaryen married "someone else" in secret. It is possible that those scrolls Sam took might have more information.

Re: Game of Thrones (S7E05) -- "Eastwatch" -- 8/13/17

I just finished the episode. I thought it was a bit odd that they went medieval Ocean's 11. A band of misfits going beyond the wall to steal a wight from The Night King. I thought that was kind of a waste of plot/episodes with so few episodes left... Maybe it will be well done and change my thoughts on it.

My only complaint is how Jamie and Bronn's armor somehow managed to become buoyant in water between episodes.

How about that mountain next to the lake that was blocking the entire army from spotting them.

I think you meant to post this in a Sopranos thread.

But yeah, their plan on bringing "proof" to Cersi is dumb. I'm sure some cool story beats will come out of it (like the teamup going north of the wall), but on the surface, it's not a plan I believe these people would come up with.

I like how she told Jaime nothing happens in King's Landing without her knowing about it, then they go to Gendry who has obviously been there awhile.

Damn! i knew Kevin Eldon wasn't making it out of there, alive.

I really enjoyed this episode. Sucks that there are only 2 more.

Is Cersei really going to make Jaime punish Bronn?

Gotta love Littlefinger being Littlefinger.

Indeed. And next week the fire sword will get some action!

And there goes Dickon and his father -- reduced to ashes. That was pretty cool. Gendry wielding that hammer on dude's heads and faces was fantastic, as well.

Keep in mind that Cersei is pregnant, so....

I thought Dany's hair was wrapping around her body for a moment. I was all kinds of confused.

He may be the legitimate son, but is he the current proper heir? He died which would put Dany in line to the throne. If he was dead long enough for him to consider his oath to the Night's Watch fulfilled, was he dead long for the next person in line to have claim to the throne?

To be fair, Sam cut Gilly off mid-sentence.

Jorah is gone for years, then shows up to interrupt Dany asking Jon about the knife in his heart comment. Your timing sucks Ser Jorah!

I assume Sam is going to meet Dany at some point? That should be interesting...

I guessing it won't take Sam an entire season to get to Castle Black or wherever he's going. I forget; has Sam met Arya before or was that just in the book.
