Christmas TV Schedule already?

A bit earlier than my usual annual post, but this year I thought I'd start things a little earlier and get in on the Christmas in July movies. I likely won't update it as frequently as I do Oct-Dec, but if you're interested in some early holiday viewing, check out the schedule.

Re: Christmas TV Schedule already?

I thought about bumping the Hallmark Christmas thread, as they have the Christmas in July week, I think a new movie or two will premiere that week as well.

If anyone's ready for holiday movies & shows (Halloween included), I'm updating my schedule regularly now.

I believe Hallmark is already running a one-hour preview special for their Christmas movies.

How is the viewership of broadcast Christmas specials? That was one of the first things we gave up when they got released to home video. I can't remember the last time I watched a commercial special. I know people like my wife and my in-laws will watch it on TV even though they have the disc sitting there because of how much trouble it is to get up and put it in.

The Charlie Brown and Rudolph specials continue to get fairly strong ratings each year. You have to remember that network ratings for everything have fallen through the floor these days. The classic Christmas specials have generations of fans with fond memories of them, so they have a bigger built-in audience than most new TV programming.

They also happen to be the only decent Christmas programming you'll likely see on the broadcast networks for the entire month of December. Most network shows have moved away from having full-on Christmas episodes and there aren't the seasonal variety programs anymore that were once popular.

Tv comedies still make Christmas episodes, they are just not guaranteed every year. You just have to keep an eye out for them.

I do enjoy those. The Middle usually has a good Christmas themed show.
