Better Call Saul (S3E10) -- Season Finale -- "Lantern" -- 6/19/17

The season three finale of AMC's "Better Call Saul" airs Monday, June 19th at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT. On the finale, "Lantern," Kim takes time off, while Jimmy tries to make amends. Nacho gambles with his future, and Hamlin pushes Chuck to make a decision.
As of now, has not been renewed for a fourth season. For comparison, last year it was renewed midway through the season.

Please be a tease. I need a season 5.

It would make sense. As BB ended at season 5

They need to make it to Season 4 first...

I know. I just don't want the show to go away like BB. Call me selfish.

I'd be very surprised if this show wasn't allowed to play out through five seasons like BB. I can't imagine the network cutting the story short.

I would be stunned and mildly depressed if the show stopped after season 3.

If AMC doesn't pick it up, I wouldn't be surprised if Netflix continued the show. I personally know a few people who don't watch it until it shows up there.

I've yet to watch season three (planning to just binge it) but I'd be shocked if AMC didn't renew it. If they don't for some crazy reason I bet services like Netflix or Prime would be scrambling to try and pick it up.

Re: Better Call Saul (S3E10) -- Season Finale -- "Lantern" -- 6/19/17

Much like most of BB, AMC will renew it. The channel has failed to create any new critical hits since Mad Men went off, though we will have to see how Preacher S2 does. I get the hint that while they enjoy milking The Walking Dead for all it's worth they don't want to be seen as a one trick pony. If it does get cancelled, Netflix will no doubt swoop in. Remember, Sony also has distribution rights and would have good cause to continue the series.

Another tidbit on tonight's episode. I heard they refused to provide a screener for critics. Expect a big episode.

I don't see any way that "Halt and Catch Fire" would get 4 seasons, but they would end BCS after 3 seasons.

There is ZERO chance of this not getting a Season 4, unless for some reason this is actually intended to be the series finale which is unlikely but possible.

Re: Better Call Saul (S3E10) -- Season Finale -- "Lantern" -- 6/19/17

When Mad Men and Breaking Bad ended, all they really had left was Walking Dead. Fear the Walking Dead only exists because AMC is desperate - but I'm not sure that piece of shit will survive. They were lucky VG was willing to BCS, but it's not going to do nearly as well as BB.

As great as Halt and Catch Fire is - is anyone watching it? If that can get more seasons, then BCS surely will.

Correct. I don't see this show not continuing. I'm sure they're just finalizing contracts, episode orders, etc. Only way I can see something like this even remotely happening is if Bob Odenkirk doesn't want to continue with the role, but I don't think there's even been the slightest hint at that being the case.

This is probably the role of a lifetime for Odenkirk. I don't see why he would have any objections to continuing.

I noticed the lack of Mike as well.

He's was an ass, but watching the rapid deterioration of Chuck's mental health was tough to watch.

They spent far too long on the scene with Chuck about trying to find the source of the electricity. Sort of a lackluster finale after all the build up this year.

Granted there were no huge surprises (for me the episode title spoiled what could have been one) but I would hardly call the finale a disappointment. Good grief you guys are tough to please!

Next season can't come soon enough.

I was a little surprised they didn't have a "Bookend" revisiting the scene at the Cinnabon with Chuck/Saul/Gene's collapse in the first episode of the season.

Anyone else think that Chuck was gonna take a header over the railing at HHM?

I guess Gus saw Nacho collecting the spilt pills and pocketing them and putting other pills back in the bottle.

Re: Better Call Saul (S3E10) -- Season Finale -- "Lantern" -- 6/19/17

I was disappointed that the Saul people expected none of us to have watched The Conversation. I almost expected Chuck to be playing a saxaphone at the end of it.

It was the finale I expected. Aside from the season 4 Breaking Bad season ender, I always find the episode BEFORE the finale is always the gutwrencher, and then you get the finish which is usually very good, but you're just EXPECTING something amazing.

I love when Saul catches me off-guard and does something brilliant. Calling an episode "Lantern" and then showing me a lantern in extreme close-up for seemingly no reason in the first minute...I mean, how else does it possibly end?

I understand that this was the big part of the show, and they needed to set up Chuck killing himself (I'm assuming), but I also thought this was dragged out.

This ending seemed kind of paint by numbers. I like the scene with Chuck leaving the firm - it was really well done. They didn't need 7 minutes of him hunting for an electricity source to show he was gone. It was clear he was crushed between him being pushed out of the firm, the scene with Jimmy, him flipping off all the breakers and cancelling the pysch appointment. It came across as somewhat heavy handed and predictable. Then again season 2 kind of ended that way too (in a predictable fashion). As soon as I saw the opening I thought "well Chuck is dead or going to end up in real bad shape"
