It is a fun little theory - but that is just a bit non-believable that she would become a street hooker - ala Requiem for a Dream

Re: Better Call Saul (S3E10) -- Season Finale -- "Lantern" -- 6/19/17

I started watching What the Flick! show discussions for Game of Thrones a few years ago and found them pretty fun. I started watching their discussions for other shows and found that the quality has gone down hill pretty far and don't really bother with them any more.

However, I checked today and found this great discussion of the BCS season finale (as well as discussion of the show in general) with special guest Rhea Seehorn! Rhea is incredibly easy to listen to, it is well worth a look:

Most of us saw this coming, but nice to know it's official...

NEW YORK, NY – June 27, 2017 – AMC today announced that it has ordered a fourth season of the critically acclaimed drama “Better Call Saul.”

The “Breaking Bad” prequel recently concluded its third season on AMC as the third highest-rated drama on cable among adults 25-54. The third season averaged 3.6 million viewers per episode, including 2 million adults 25-54 in Nielsen live+3 ratings.

“Better Call Saul” will return to the network with 10 new episodes in 2018.

^^ Good to see it's finally official. I made a post about the rumored renewal here and apparently they don't start production until November. So definitely anticipate a Spring 2018 premiere.

Third highest rated among adults 25-54? I didn't know that was a demo?

I am a tiny bit surprised at the renewal to be honest. I expect there to be some level of change in the show for next season.

I think if AMC hadn't renewed it, Netflix would have come riding to the rescue.

The networks consider it a flyover demo.

Good news on the renewal. Would have loved to see them just go ahead and add the fifth year as well.

Re: Better Call Saul (S3E10) -- Season Finale -- "Lantern" -- 6/19/17

No way on earth this show was getting cancelled early. It's the only real prestige show on the network. They aren't getting any Best Drama nominations for Turn, Halt and Catch Fire or Fear The Walking Dead. On a channel that features original programming, that attention counts for a lot more than ratings,

Great finale. Low key as someone said, but shocking ending. Chuck really went over the rails. Too bad. He was a good foil to Jimmy...

Re: Better Call Saul (S3E10) -- Season Finale -- "Lantern" -- 6/19/17

AMC announced on Thursday a premiere date for the fourth season of Better Call Saul: Aug. 6 at 9 p.m. It’s been a longer-than-usual hiatus for the Breaking Bad prequel that centers on the transformation of slippery lawyer Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk), it has traditionally debuted in late winter or spring. The season 3 finale, which aired in mid-June, ended with the fiery death of Jimmy’s brother/nemesis Chuck (Michael McKean)

The fourth season of Saul will “catalyze” the transmogrification of Jimmy into the ambulance-chasing consigliere Saul Goodman, as seen on Breaking Bad. In the wake of Chuck’s death, Jimmy slips deeper into the world of crime, and it could jeopardize his relationship with Kim (Rhea Seehorn), who finds herself at odds again with Howard (Patrick Fabian) in a legal battle that arises from the brothers’ war. Mike (Jonathan Banks) will become further ensconced in Madrigal, while the collapse of Hector (Mark Margolis) impacts the cartel as well as plans plotted by Gus (Giancarlo Esposito) and Nacho (Michael Mando).

Well, I was expecting a Fall date. Pleasantly surprised it will be coming back late Summer instead.

I had doubted that Chuck could have survived the fire but that blurb just removes all doubt.

Not sure if it was set up to be such a late premiere or if it was due to Giancarlos' injury.

The scene, taken at face value, was the end of Chuck.

But there was enough wriggle room to say he managed to run out of the house if they wanted to keep him around.

I hope I am wrong but I get the feeling that this is the last season of the show and the delay was to allow them to write a final story line. I want to see 5 more seasons of this show, but I am worried this will be it.

^I'm pretty sure you're wrong.

From this article, you can see Vince Gilligan's comments:

https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-e...-a8269901.html

“I think in my mind’s eye we’re about halfway through now,” he said. “That’s my general feeling - that we’re at the halfway point, that we have two or three more seasons in us. If indeed that does come to pass, that means we’ll have about the same number of episodes that we had for Breaking Bad which I think will be a nice counterpoint to the first show."

Re: Better Call Saul (S3E10) -- Season Finale -- "Lantern" -- 6/19/17

Yeah. Remember, there was only supposed to be one true "Jimmy" season, but they found that they liked the character so much that they extended that part of the story. That's how we got the wheels-spinning Season 2 where nothing actually happened. Now that we are at the brink of "Saul" we are going to finally see where Gilligan was planning on taking the show. Should be a fair amount of story left -- but with a finite end because eventually it will lead to BB of course.
