She plays a small role on 'The Americans'.

Tore through the first 4 episodes and love it. The broadcast networks should just stop producing dramas right now. They just can't compete with the quality and content of streaming and cable (I mean, no way you're going to see that male hooker scene on ABC :-O)

I'm through 8 of the 10 episodes. Can't believe how engaged I am in this. So good.

I hate to admit it, but I'm only watching because Why So Blu said it was really good on here.

Finished last night & that was utterly fantastic. After it's all over I realized this was a show about family much more than all the mayhem. Really great TV.

I've seen two episodes so far and it's really good. Jason Bateman gets to play a different type of role from what he normally does and is really good as Marty. I love how good Marty is at adapting to new circumstances. Laura Linney is of course phenomenal.

I can't get over how dark this show is though. Literally. The cinematography makes even sunny days with blue skies to look extremely bleak.

Probably went to the David Fincher school of "always night"

This is good. You should watch it.

Somehow this is playing like a serious version of Arrested Development. Maybe it's just because I watch that show so much. A trailer mashup is in order.

This better get a Season 2. Only problem there is, Laura Linney is always in demand for movies. They can't really do another season without her, unless they get her to agree to be killed off early in the second season.

Hey spoilers! I'm still watchin' over here! I'm on episode 6. Typical great drama that keeps you glued. Not the first show of its kind. But really good. It's like an alternative Breaking Bad or Weeds.

Netflix and Amazon are scooping up the best TV show projects. Or maybe it has to do with Netflix and Amazon being less creatively hands-on and the creators get to make the show they want to make.

Is this show more plot driven or is it just as much character driven too?

Both.

This thing is just visually so bleak. It's like they forced production to watch THE ROAD a dozen times before and during production.

Agree with everything--Incredible TV, and 18,000x better than anything on network television. Brilliant casting, and I'd love to see it come back for a second season and more. That shotgun blast towards the end really scared me.

Finished today. Excellent show. I was glued for all ten hours.

The heroin queen was really creepy.

Like Breaking Bad, it barely finds time to find a little happiness. No montages where things are going good. You feel the dread the whole time. I'd compare its story to The Counselor.

Liked it - watched it all this weekend. Bateman is awesome and gets to show some range (although I like the few moments of levity when he gets to go full Bateman) and Linney is always good. The only thing I didn't care for was the FBI agent storyline/backstory - that character did nothing for me and we spent A LOT of time with him. Great finale though and they setup/left hanging enough stuff that I'm really looking forward to a second season.

Guess I better check this out so my slate will be clear by August 18 when The Defenders drop.

FWIW, I saw Laura in an interview and she said she'll do this show for as long as they want her. She did ask for 4 days off after every 7 days of work to go back home and take care of her family, which she got.

re: Ozark (Netflix) S: Bateman, Linney -- Season 1 Thread -- premieres 7/21/17

Just binged this show over the last few days and really loved it! Bateman and Linney are terrific, and the supporting cast is great, too.

Spoiler:
Owning the funeral home and crematorium will continue to be very convenient for Marty, I think.

I'm a little confused still by Marty and Ruth Langmore's relationship. She killed her uncles to save his life, but does she still want to kill Marty herself?

My one criticism (as mentioned by others) is the bleak look of the show. I think it's a constant blue filter or something, but it's a little overdone.

Thanks!

I think the bleak look is cuz of the area/location.
