Supergirl (S2E18) -- "Ace Reporter" -- 4/24/17
SUPERGIRL
"Ace Reporter" - (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET) (Content Rating TBD) (HDTV)
"IZOMBIE'S" RAHUL KOHLI GUEST STARS - Lena's (guest star Katie McGarth) ex-boyfriend, Jack Spheer (guest star Rahul Kohli), comes to National City to unveil his big breakthrough in nano-technology, which has the potential to eradicate all diseases. Lena asks Kara to attend Jack's conference with her for support. When Kara sees Snapper (guest Star Ian Gomez) in attendance she's inspired to tap back into her reporter skills and questions Jack on his discovery, which ultimately leads to a bigger investigation that puts everyone in danger. Armen V. Kevorkian directed the episode written by Paula Yoo & Caitlin Parrish (#218). Original airdate 4/24/2017.

Holy cow that was awful. Also really, really boring. The only good part of the episode was NO ALEX AND MAGGIE! Course that's going to be ruined by the fact that next weeks episode is about Maggie and Kara teaming up to save Alex. Yay. First the good.
Good:
-No Alex and Maggie storyline to drag the show down.
-I kind of liked Tamzin Merchant coming back. I kept thinking about how she would have made a good Ms. Martian instead of making Ms. Martian a forty year old love interest for J'onn. I know why they went that route but still.
-Rhea meeting Lena hopefully will tie in this Cadmus, Luthor, president alien and Mon El's parents storyline.
Bad:
-Tamzin Merchant coming back and getting involved with this stupid Guardian storyline. I can't think of a damn reason to bring her back and put her in this storyline.
-CFO who is a Black Belt is taken out by two punches. Did anyone not see her being evil coming?
-What the hell does James do at Catco anyway? If he took Cat's job(who was the head of the company) shouldn't he be Snapper's boss? So when Snapper tells him to get rid of Kara James should tell him to pound sand.
-Man the Guardian storyline is stupid.
-Why does Mon El need a disguise? It's not like he's, you know being a superhero or anything since he seems happy to sit around Kara's apartment all day. I was really excited for Mon El this season and it's impressive how badly they blundered with him.
-"I'll always be your friend Lena". Gee I wonder what they are setting up for season three or the season finale.
-So why exactly was Kara hanging around Catco with freshly made Danishes anyway?
-Obviously I know that they are setting Lena up to be this, but this show badly needs another Maxwell Lord type character.
They need to fire this writing staff and start fresh. Badly.
Good:

Wait. Supergirl acts like there is nothing to do without a job? How about ANYTHING!!! There is the entire world one could help in as well.
That never made any sense. Why didn't James just override him.

I think the only purpose of keeping Guardian (other than to keep the only black member of the cast despite the unpopularity of his character) is to save budget. They're showing Guardian fight scenes instead of Supergirl ones, which should be cheap.

The banter between Winn and his girlfriend has been the one saving grace of the Guardian story arc. I noticed they threw in more quips this episode than usual.
Has biotechnology on network television ever been treated positively?
The second it's introduced, someone turns evil and starts killing people.
I'm surprised they haven't had Lena's company buy out Catco, making Lena the boss. It looks like she'll be sticking around past this season.
