I thought it was a pretty good set up for the season. I like that it kind of hit the reset button by having Richard start from scratch with a whole new idea. I don't think this season would have been interesting at all if they kept the status quo of the guys trying to raise money to get their company off the ground.
I also like that they did all of that without creating any bitterness between the gang.
I wonder if Russ Hanneman is going to come out of the closet this season?

I liked that he was at the wrong school.

After binge-watching the first three seasons, I forgot how much I missed this show. Welcome back, boys, one of the best shows on television.

Did you see the latest issue of Sports Illustrated? The cover model has the most lovely enigmatic facial expression.

Funny that Hooli got stuck with the under-13 issue. Belson can't seem to catch a break when dealing with Pied Piper. Although, now that Hooli owns Piperchat - does that give Hooli full rights to use PP's compression since that was the agreement to begin with?
Bighead's lack of focus screwed over Erlich. But why would potential investors meet with Jian Yang over an app that provides 8 recipes for octopus? Surely they wouldn't take a meeting without knowing what the app was to being with, no?

While the show continues to be hilarious, there are just some ridiculous contrivances that they shove our way to get to a gag or a plot twist. The most annoying ones are the ones that portrays the character(s) as brilliant one episode, then complete inept morons the next. I caught it immediately in Dinesh's TV interview that he essentially admitted to stealing from Hooli Chat. Nobody in their right mind would be dumb enough to do that in real life. But of course if Dinesh didn't act like a dumbass it would not lead to the payoff at the end of the episode.

Yeah, Dinesh really pissed me off in this episode. I was glad to see it fall apart, for him.

Without a contract, Richard would still have his shares since Dinesh was ignoring his verbal agreement. I figured Richard was going to see the lawyer first. Now will Hooli not have access to the compression?

I thought that gag had to do with OCULUS and since Jian Yang is ESL Erlich fucked up and heard wrong. It was Octopus not Oculus.

But was Jian Yang's meeting with the investor set up on the knowledge that his app was for octopus recipes, or did they also misinterpret in a previous meeting and thought it was Oculus?

Yes, that's the gag - Bighead didn't realise he was listening to Jian Yang's pitch and tuned out - misheard octopus as Oculus (because Jian is hard to understand, and had Bighead actually paid attention - he would've realized he wasn't talking about Oculus based on context) and told Erlich it was Oculus.

Oh, and since I had not watched the first episode until last night -- when Guillfoyle punkd Dinesh and called him "Karachi Kid" -- I was rolling.

Hards-on. That was great, I had never considered that would be the plural version, but given the mean jerk time research Erlich had done, it makes sense.

Yeah, kind of a case of him trying to be like those people that get off on correcting you if you say "attorney generals" (the correct plural is "attorneys general").
If the term originally came about from "hard" standing in for "erection" and "on" for "I have one" then "hards on" could be correct. But the accepted usage is that "hard-on" itself is a noun, so "hard-ons" it is.
