I'm not holding my breathe, but really hoping there will be something surprising for the finale.
Heading into this episode, I'd probably rate this season between a C and C+ It's pretty close to season 6 as my least favorite 24 season.

Deadline wrote a blurb and says the series is definitely in limbo.

Damn... even a silent clock didn't do anything for me. The show was lame overall and offered nothing new to the franchise. I can't believe Carlos Bernard wanted any involvement with this especially with the lack he had to do.
Either bring Kiefer back and do an event series, 2 hour TV movie, feature film or just let it die. Actually, I'd settle for a show with Tony as the lead... or Kate Morgan... or Renee Wa... oh wait... I'm still pissed about that!
Here are some interviews with the showrunners about the season...and possible season 2 (if renenwed). They want to bring back Chloe:

I liked the finale. Nice nods to previous 24 themes (i.e.: silent clock)
I liked the ending camera shot of Carter's wife. It was the opposite of 24 Day 1, and the tragic ending that happened to Bauer's family.
Excellent action sequence in the beginning.
Overall season grade: C+
My IMDb grade: 5.9 out of 10
If someone asked if I recommend this spinoff of 24, I would advise to skip it. If this show wasn't related to 24, I would have dumped it a long time ago. Lack of big twists and huge threats. But as a die-hard fan, I'm loyal to 24 and this expanded universe.
I would have liked this spinoff to have taken place in-between the past seasons (and make that a mid-season twist/reveal). Could have had classic characters show up and make small cameos in an episode or two, helping out this branch of CTU. How about Michelle Dessler or Curtis Manning? Did we even see the President this season? Could have made an awesome twist and had David Palmer show up. Some of my favorites.
If this is a one and done season, that would be fine by me. 24 Legacy doesn't live up to its predecessor.

LB - The finale was ok. Before I saw a preview promoting it - I was expecting Tony and Carter not to fight.
I figured the call from Donavan would come before the fight and not after.
Or Carter would mention the reason he wants the girl - Tony would see that is was for Rebecca and not fight.
Still it was a pretty good fight and at least they had Tony did something. Sucks he got hurt - would have like to see him be with Carter when he "saved" Rebecca.
I liked the ending camera shot of Carter's wife. It was the opposite of 24 Day 1, and the tragic ending that happened to Bauer's family.
LB - I didn't like it. Yeah it was the opposite of season one ending. But I don't want the last person we see in this series be her - not a fan.
Wish it was of Carter. Hopefully this won't be the last of the series.

LB - I agree with all of this. Also helped that it was only 12 episodes and it had Bernard/Smits in it - fans of the two.
Did we even see the President this season? Could have made an awesome twist and had David Palmer show up.
LB - No -we didn't see the current President at all - just Simms mentioning a couple of times that he got clearence from the President to do a few things.

Just caught up
Look the whole series wasn't terrible but it seems like every plot device was recycled from old 24, from high level government involvement to kidnapping a loved one to leverage a guard to bad new head of CTU coming in to baddie supposed to be dead not dead.
It was just more rushed because of 12 eps instead of 24 that's all.
Tony Almelda was woefully underused and obviously they didn't want any overshadowing of the new stars
Rebecca dying was stupid, she was one of the few interesting characters. I could have seen a second season where she has a reason to start an off books mission to track down Jack Bauer

I watched just for the sake of completeness, but if this comes back in this incarnation next year, I'm out. Give me Sutherland, or give me dead air.

I enjoyed the series. The silent clock seemed off. They cut away after a sec or two; I feel like they used to let it linger for a couple of extra seconds for things to sink in.
It all did feel rushed though, which is probably just a product of it being 12 episodes. Even at this quality, 24 is still one of the better action shows, IMO.

Oh, one other thing I mentioned to my wife. I like Carter and the actor playing him (he was great as Dr Dre) but if he's going to hold the torch, he really needs to start caring about people less. Full series and he didn't torture one person to get info. Jack Bauer would be disappointed.

Agree, very underwhelming finale to a very underwhelming season. Totally disappointed in the use of Tony, but thank goodness they didn't kill him off. Really the whole season for me was all the annoying things of old 24 but with none of the elements that kept me watching. 24 without Jack is simply not 24.

I know what I'll be watching this summer - Live Another Day
Haven't watched it since its original airing. And now I can appreciate it more after seeing how this spinoff turned out.

My vote is to cancel it and just do a two hour TV movie every once in a while with the 24 characters.
No need for a new season of recycled material. I still can't believe the writers were proud of a storyline that consisted of middle eastern terrorists. How cliche, boring, non-creative, and lazy can you get?
