Brockmire (IFC) -- Series Thread -- S: Hank Azaria, Amanda Peet -- Premieres 4/5/17
Brockmire (Hank Azaria) is a famed major league baseball announcer who suffers an embarrassing and very public meltdown live on the air after discovering his beloved wife’s serial infidelity. A decade later, Jim Brockmire decides to reclaim his career and love life in a small American rust belt town that has seen better days, calling minor league baseball games for the Morristown Frackers. The struggling team is led by Jules (Amanda Peet), the strong-willed, hard-drinking owner and Charles (Tyrel Jackson Williams), the naïve but enthusiastic team intern.

Yeah, this looks great. Definitely tuning in this week. Always enjoyed watching Azaria on the small screen and this looks like a great vehicle for him.

I watched and I liked it. I cracked up at the part of them screwing in booth and the stadium listening.

I'm amazed Hank Azaria still has the jones to work on a new show. He's rolling in Simpsons' money unless he's been divorced a couple of times.

I watched the first 2 episodes... it's decent so far.
However, while I can accept Brockmire's baseball announcer voice when he's calling ballgames - I find it annoying when he's talking like that all the time. It feels like he's just doing an impersonation the whole time.

I enjoyed episode 1. I don't have IFC. So will have to wait a year to see the rest on Netflix or Amazon.

I was killing time (probably a poor choice of words) at my mother's nursing home while she was indisposed, and caught an hour-long interview with Azaria on one channel or another. Quite interesting. He described a peak period in his career, -"Heat", another big film, and a break-out role in "The Birdcage" -and his future looked great; he then followed up with roles in "Mystery Men", "Mystery, Alaska" and "Godzilla", -which were all considered big deals when he signed on, -and all three bombed (and bombed BIG) and his career turned cold. He takes his career as a screen actor seriously.

Hmmm ... Some funny stuff but I'm not quite sure what to make of it yet. It's as if the show isn't quite sure if it is a parody or not -- the humor is kind of stuck in the middle.
Odd question -- when he starts the fire in the beginning, is it because the grass is so dry or because of natural gas coming out of the ground (from the fracking)? Yes, I am judging the show (a bit) based on the depth of this joke.

I'm guessing the fracking.
I'm a little surprised MLB Network has been pushing this show given the content. Not that I care, but some people are sensitive to it.

Amanda Peet is still fucking hot. Been a fan of hers for years. Benioff is a lucky dude. Too bad there won't be nudity on this like Togetherness.

Glad that I saw this thread because I had no idea this show existed or that I had the channel.
Catching up now and it's quite good and, yes, wow, Amanda Peet still looks phenomenal.
I don't add many shows but I'm definitely on board with this one.
PS-is some of the cursing being bleeped out a part of the show? I read several reviews using terms like "profanity laced episodes" so it made me wonder if the bleeping wasn't happening for everyone.

I had no plans to watch this. IFC isn't a channel that's even on my viewing schedule.
But, a friend recommended this to me and I decided to record the re-airs of the 1st and 2nd episode early this morning.
Thought it was pretty entertaining. I was mildly amused my Brockmire's meltdown in the 1st episode. and some of his play by play.
But, man Amanda Peet looks really good. She looked really hot in that jean dress in the 2nd episode. I was a little surprised that she and Brockmire started banging each other so fast.
Also, what the hell kind of league is this? Seems like it's below single-A baseball.

It's an unaffiliated independent league. These are typically "semi-pro" (meaning some are paid, some are not) local/regional leagues. I believe the Amanda Peet character mentioned having both young players and former Major Leaguers -- not uncommon. These are guys trying to get their first break trying to hang on to the game.
Around here, the Frontier League is a version of this level of baseball.

I didn't know the Frontier League is the oldest independent league in operation! Neat!
