The mind-bending adventures of David Haller will continue on in Legion Season 2. FX announced today that it has renewed the unique drama series for another season, ensuring that creator/showrunner Noah Hawley will continue to incept the minds of viewers with his twisted take on the Marvel Comics characters. The show is based on the Marvel comic of the same name and stars Dan Stevens as David Haller, who traditionally is the son of Professor X. In the show, Haller is suffering from A. Schizophrenia B. Crazy-powerful psychic and telekinetic mutant powers or C. All of the above. The series is obtuse at times, as Hawley and Co. have taken a surrealistic approach to the material that results in something more like a David Lynch film than a traditional superhero series.

The press release is light on details, but does say Legion will return in 2018. It’s hard to imagine Hawley not back at the helm as showrunner as this is so much his show, but he does have a fairly full plate at the moment. He continues to serve as creator and showrunner of FX’s highly successful anthology series Fargo, which is currently in production on Season 3 with a premiere looming next month, and he recently set up a pair of feature film projects that he’s expected to write and/or direct. It’s unclear how Hawley intends to juggle all of this, but again it’s hard to imagine Legion without his hands-on approach, and if Ryan Murphy can manage then surely so can Hawley.

Nice! So happy they are getting a second season, well deserved! Although I really hope Noah Hawley will keep as much control as he has on this 1st season. Dude is juggling so many projects right now, but if Ryan Murphy can do it...

I still don't know what to make of this show. At times I'm intrigued and really engaged by what's happening, and other times I'm just thinking wtf is happening. I'll stick with it at least through this season.

I'm with you. Hopefully the finale pulls everything together.

I'm really curious what's going on in the mental hospital, and with his "sister." I forget, was she in the house with them, and therefore is that actually her, or just another extension of his parasite?

If it's her, it's interesting that she is a complete asshole to him.

I have not been giving the episodes the second viewing that they deserve; I figured I would binge the whole thing once it is done. However, last night's episode is going to get a second viewing. There were so many things happening in the background and in the little details ...

Two that jumped out at me (that I want to see if there is more there):

1) In the "green forest" scene with Melanie, there is somebody/something standing in the background blending in.

2) Close to the end, you can look through a doorway in the background and see the barrel and muzzle fire from the rifle firing at David. Is time standing still while they are on this particular magic carpet ride?

Glad to see we will get a second season! Not sure where it will go, but I already have my seat belt and crash helmet on.

Are ANY of the characters real? Or are they ALL Legion?

It does seem like all this is happening in David's mindscape while outside time is still frozen, with the bullet yet to hit it's target.

This was the first episode to annoy me, though. If the mind stuff hadn't taken up the entire episode I'd have liked it much better.

None of it is real, or all of it is. Who the fuck cares anymore?

All one needs to look at is his Legion's marvelwiki page - I posted it on an earlier thread, where it listed all of his powers. If you dissect it you can see that it's him. He's pretty much a God.

Or you could just watch the show and enjoy the ride ... :D

By the way, Dan Stevens is The Beast?!

I like that a version of "Oh You Pretty Things" made it into something related to the X-Men."

Seriously. I don't care about the comics, or his wiki, or anything related to outside information. I'm just enjoying the show as it is.

Dude is an incredible actor, IMO. From the few things I've seen him in, his range is crazy.

I knew him almost exclusively from The Guest, he does seem to cover a lot of genres. Walking away from Downton Abbey did wonders for his career.

I'm developing a crush on that little yellow troll (in its female form).

I'm pretty sure I know what's going on. The show is definitely weird, but it drops enough clues and sometimes outright spells out what's happening if you pay attention.

Re: Legion (S1E06) -- "Chapter 6" -- 3/15/17

I do struggle with this show, but I enjoy the struggle (if that makes sense). Glad it got renewed and agree the shorter seasons help this show (I think). Frankly, I don't know if I have the mental capacity to give this 12-13 episodes.

I don't know how Hawley does it. In addition to being showrunner on 2 shows, and having 2 feature film projects coming up, the guy is also an author. Impressive.
