Re: Supergirl (S2E14) -- "Homecoming" -- 2/27/17
I just realized this was the second episode without James Olson. Least somethings being done right. Plus no lesbian drama so something else was done right.
Honestly this episode wasn't that bad for the most part but it still had it's hiccups. Mainly the fact that the only way this plot would function is by everyone being an idiot. Kara has X-Ray vision she didn't bother to use, and J'onn apparently decided it wasn't worth it to try reading his mind first. Plus everyone had to be a total dick to Mon El because of plot. Alex once again proves how worthless she is to this show and is nothing like her season one character. The sad thing is there is a good story to tell with Jeremiah but these writers seem incapable of being able to tell it. To make it even worse I read an interview with Chyler and she mentioned "An upcoming episode is called Exodus. It's about people wanting to get rid of the aliens and ban aliens from coming to the city". This show needs to focus on stop trying to be a show pushing liberal agenda and instead focus on telling entertaining stories which these writers seem incapable of this season. |

Well I liked the Cadbury joke - but the plotting was awful. Poor Dad w crippled hand - we won't x-ray it to see what is really wrong ... (and could he really block that many bullets w just his arm ... ) ... the items above and from there to only the 2 ladies being sent to the forest at the end. Gah ...

Re: Supergirl (S2E14) -- "Homecoming" -- 2/27/17
I thought it was really weird how they specifically wrote a scene for Mrs. Danvers to tell Jeremy that their marriage was in the past and that he shouldn't expect a relationship. Remember, he had supposedly been kidnapped and held against his will by Cadmus for over a decade. It wasn't like he went away voluntarily.
The timeline the show has given us for Jeremy's history doesn't fit together very well. Given his time with Cadmus and Kara arriving on Earth when she was 12, he wouldn't have been her father for more than a year or two before disappearing. |
Re: Supergirl (S2E14) -- "Homecoming" -- 2/27/17
I really hope they turn Dean Cain into the (real) Cyborg Superman. Costume and all.

They're building a ship...and the Aliens are going to pay for it.

meh episode. that was a ship, right? looked like it but couldn't totally tell.

Re: Supergirl (S2E14) -- "Homecoming" -- 2/27/17
James has been absent from enough episodes that I'm wondering if the actor didn't want to make the Vancouver move. They could be spreading out what they have before his Cat-like exit from the show.

They did not even think to scan him......*sigh* (Unless it can fool such scans)
Someone that used to watch the show is still annoyed about James and Kara not being a thing. (I don't really care) I'm thinking it's not going to be...at all as CW flipped that so quickly and they hardly do anything together. |
Re: Supergirl (S2E14) -- "Homecoming" -- 2/27/17
I'm not sure I get what Jeremiah's motive is embracing Cadmus.
and yeah Eliza basically shutting out Jeremiah and saying "I don't know you anymore" etc. was odd. He was kidnapped and held against his will for well over a decade. A little early for Mon-El to profess his love for Kara. |

80's Supergirl's response was a mature response. The girls OTOH were allowed to be all giddy that Daddy is back. |

The opening scenes with Mon El and Kara were great. I like them together. But I know I'm not the one who wondered if those two having sex caused their building to literally rock...

No. It makes sense. She's like hold up, I love you but it's been a minute and we've been apart for a while. We have to get to know each other again. There was a similar scene in the film "The Good Shepherd" between Angelina Jolie and Matt Damon after he returned from his work away from home with the CIA.

Berlanti's CW shows always cut normal drama scenes and dialogue first when putting their episodes together. It's badly affected Arrow over the years. |
Re: Supergirl (S2E14) -- "Homecoming" -- 2/27/17
She thought he was dead for like a decade and had moved on with her life that way. Telling him not to expect to just jump into bed with her right away seemed a normal response. I was honestly half expecting her to say she'd started seeing someone else.
I'm still not sure I understand the hand thing. I know he had the robotic arm, but was there something actually wrong with his hand? If not why pretend there was? |

Re: Supergirl (S2E14) -- "Homecoming" -- 2/27/17
Why would pushing Jeremiah Danvers as "Cyborg Superman" make ANY kind of sense? Even in the comics he's Hank Henshaw, and it's logical that he retains that identity here. Unless you just want a nostalgia wankfest for some terrible 90s ABC soap-drama...

Re: Supergirl (S2E14) -- "Homecoming" -- 2/27/17
Yeah bit of a confusing and uneven episode
This episode showed two things a) Jimmy Olsen isn't missed b) Calista Flockheart's character is missed |
Re: Supergirl (S2E14) -- "Homecoming" -- 2/27/17
If this show continues pushing its agenda so hard I just might drop it. I think we all get that it's political allegory at this point, but the show is suffering for it.

Do you have any idea why? Those two never had any charisma at all together. Winn and her getting together I would believe because you could tell he really liked her. For awhile in season one I always figured that they were going to do a "Team Wnn/Team James" type of thing but never did.

Re: Supergirl (S2E14) -- "Homecoming" -- 2/27/17
I know you've been away for more than ten years being held by the enemy and you just got back yesterday, but here's your all access pass to our secrets. And NO ONE question this.
When Jeremiah took out the computer system, why didn't they just go to the base in the mountain. Since when did Kara start collecting a paycheck from the DEO. She wouldn't need to go to HR. I guess Alex and Kara were the only agents available for the mission in the woods. Mon-El must have been on break. |
Re: Supergirl (S2E14) -- "Homecoming" -- 2/27/17
Just something I thought of. Hope those Cadmus think is worth spending the rest of their lives in prison. For the plan to succeed, they knew some would get caught and potentially seriously hurt.

Re: Supergirl (S2E14) -- "Homecoming" -- 2/27/17
How do you come to the realization that his hand has damage without finding out he has a metal arm. And his hand wasn't all that bad. This one expected too many large leaps of faith. Having someone impersonate someone else is a constant threat in their world. When Mon-El brought up those inconsistencies it would seem they would at least take a look to make sure he wasn't an alien imposter.
 No lesbian drama, it was treated like an adult instead of a high school relationship. No James Olson although I like Guardian better than James alone. No Cat, no Cat-co., no newspaper. I do miss the Cat Grant character. |
