Yeah, seems to me I remember a lot of comedians bragging that comedy is a meritocracy; if you're funny, you'll succeed. The college kid seems to be a terrific comedian. Whether his talent is preternatural or it's the result of him working for years makes no difference. He seems to be a better, more exciting comedian than Pete.

Not to say I didn't cringe watching Pete's disappointment. In the same situation, I'm sure I would have felt terrible about myself. I'm just glad he didn't lash out at Jabookie. That only would have made him an asshole.

During the end scene with Artie, when he said, "I make a lot of bad decisions, just look at these googles," I was surprised the line wasn't "Just look at my nose." Later today, I heard an interview with Pete Holmes and Judd Apatow, where they discussed how they shot around poor Artie's collapsed nose (like shooting him over the shoulder and stuff), so I guess the show isn't going to address his condition.

doing that now.

The Artie episode. Yikes his nose looks like it was already ruined and was plugged up to keep it almost normal looking.

Just a shame.

I'm still enjoying this show. I do feel like Pete is strangely a total asshole to Ally (who has been nothing but nice and supportive to him) but nice to absolutely everybody else. Seems like weird writing to me.

That's an unflattering picture for sure, but I thought she looked better in the show. Hotter than his ex-wife, not as hot as his ex-girlfriend.

Episode 3 was great.

I love this show. So much. From such a pure place. I hope HBO sticks with it.

I can't imagine this show costs a bunch, other than filming in NYC. I would imagine if they are happy with it, and Pete wants to keep doing it, it'll keep going.

I liked Episode 3 a lot It's hard to do uncomfortable humor without being mean but they got the tone just right here. I was watching the club scene through my fingers Poor Pete.
Thought it ended perfectly as well.

It was a train wreck performance almost had to fast forward, but yeah tough to watch.. that was really well done. Such a good show.
