^ One one level, yes that's a hilariously tone-deaf take-away. But on the other hand,it really must be tough for shock-type comics who have been around for decades to get used to the new PC climate. Audiences also aren't sure what they're allowed to laugh at any more.
Things are very different in the world of comedy than they were 20 years ago.

The mom definitely has some sort of "emotional incest" with Pete. She's just creepy.

Still not liking Kitty-Kat... something wrong with her, and her face just scares me - especially when she smiles.

That was Sean Watkins (Nickle Creek, etc) - the first performer/guitarist who lead the prayer circle.

Kat has grown on me but it might not last after watching the preview for next weeks episode.

I think Kat is kinda "nerd-girl cute", and is fairly realistic as a mate for "Pete Holmes" (the character on this show). But I think the main reason they put her on the show is that she's 6', so doesn't look like a midget next to Pete.. who is 6'5".

Jesus, Kat's a nightmare. I swear she gets uglier every episode, and her personality follows the same trajectory.
Hope they dump the character soon - so annoying.

I loved the hypocrisy of Pete getting fired over basically mentioning the fucked up shit that's in the bible.
If they find the bible disturbing and inappropriate - then maybe they shouldn't be reading and living by it in the first place.

The show has been pretty entertaining, but honestly I'm not sure how much more there was to say with it. Seems like if it kept going it was going to be season 2: Lather. Rinse. Repeat.

I don't think watching Pete become a big time comic would have had any of the same charm, and watching him spin his wheels in the same career place for a few more seasons would have become trite. So while I would keep watching if it stuck around I won't miss it that much.

Have you not watched Silicon Valley? They literally have had the same formula for 5 seasons.

No question, and I made that very observation probably each of the last three seasons (as have many others). But Silicon Valley has a strong ensemble cast that reduces the plot to merely serving the purpose of giving the program guide something to put in the episode description. Crashing is about Pete's journey, and he ain't going anywhere any time soon. Heck, he doesn't even Crash any more. Doesn't mean it wasn't a fun show, I just mean I won't wonder what was left to tell.

That is a real bummer. I figured that was the news when this thread got bumped several times this week, but I didn't click until I was caught up. Not my favorite show, but I do enjoy it and it certainly feels far from finished story-wise.

Liked this last episode. Got a kick from the fact that Eve Plumb guest-starred at the Christian Tour manager and the episode closed with what I assume was a Brady Kids song.

This was better than Divorce, Camping, and High Maintenance the other HBO comedies.

At least he got back with Allie which was nice.

Yes, but I almost wish they hadn't done the stuff with Ali. Basically end with him doing his Comedy Cellar set and then leave it at that. Obviously they didn't know they were getting cancelled, but it is about as good as we can expect. I will miss this show.

HBO advertised it as the season finale before they did the intro with the TV rating and clips from the last episode unless that was a mistake or Apatow jumped the gun by saying it was cancelled.

Sucks since they could done more stories and a lot of big names like Romano and Mulaney did guest spots and I thought it was safe from cancellation.
