Kara's on her third, Jimmy & Wyn & Alex have had two a piece, even Jon, Maxwell and Kat have one a piece. Is it like Grey's Antimony? Yes. Do I like it? Not really? Is it a deal breaker for me? Not really but it does detract from the show.
You might be right. I saw the press release for this weeks episode and after talking about all the craziness that's occurring with Mr. Mxyzptlk they then go on to say "Alex and Maggie celebrate their first Valentines Day together but Alex is bummed when Maggie isn't as excited as she is". It's almost like their saying "Hey, if the super heroics don't work for you don't worry, you are going to get an overdramatic relationship plot too!"

The problem with the Alex/Maggie relationship is that Maggie as a character was introduced on the show for one reason, to be Alex's girlfriend. She serves no other purpose. People are watching this show to see the adventures of Supergirl, not the relationship drama of a b-character.

At least when James was dating Lucy, that had a tangential impact on Kara because she had feelings for him. The Maggie and Alex relationship is off in its own little bubble, cut off from the rest of the show's plotting.

It would have been a lot more fun if they had paired Alex up with a villain like Livewire or Silver Banshee if they wanted to go this route. As is the Maggie and Alex relationship has been depicted like a "very special" infomercial for lesbianism to the unenlightened heterosexual masses.

Not gonna see Silver Banshee anytime soon unless she's re-cast. That actress now has a main role on Designated Survivor.
