I am looking forward to the absurdity of Carter's police station escape.

Ooof. I laughed way too hard, when the dead kid jumped out the window and ran away, to take this season seriously.

Was worried this would be another non-action episode, but the last scene made up for it. This has been the 24 formula the past few seasons (action during the beginning or last 10 minutes), and I wish they would have grown out of that by now.
Interesting twist with the father and I should have seen it coming. From Rush Hour 2, "Behind every big crime there's a rich white man waiting for his cut."
And this is one of the only shows I truly watch "live", (not even a 10 minute delay) so it's annoying to have 4-6 minute segments in-between commercials. That's fucking ridiculous. I don't remember it being that bad with commercials back in the day. The die-hard fan in me needs to watch "live" haha
B- grade, better than 2nd episode.

The last action sequence and shootout was pretty exciting. Of course Carter gets hit by a car and the terrorists escape.
at the kid miraculously waking up after getting his head bashed and then walking into the woods. Now he's probably as good as dead going to the hospital.
Never would have suspected we would also have an "in the closet" macho CTU field ops agent. That's a 1st for 24.
That was a pretty interesting twist with Donovan's Dad being behind the leak.
Definitely better than last week.
I do hate the subplot with Carter's wife and his brother's bitch girlfriend. She's not a character, just a contrived plot obstacle to create conflict. Hopefully Nicole beats her to a pulp or shoots a few slugs into her.
Pleasantly surprised to see this was a Howard Gordon co-written episode. He was 24's showrunner for seasons 4-8 and hasn't written an episode for well over 7 years.

Coral Pena, who plays Edgar's cousin posted this on Twitter. It's the script cover for the season finale. No spoilers here. They are apparently wrapping up filming it. You can see who the writers and director is. It also gives you an idea of how the time jump will work. Nice to see Stephen Hopkins returning to do the finale. He also directed the Pilot and Finale of the original show.

I did like that action sequence in the train station. Especially the last shot just to be sure that Carter laid on the guy on the stairs.

OK, I can put up with a lot of ridiculous stuff when it comes to 24 but I need some explanation about this whole father/son relationship. Did Henry adopt John as an adult? Perhaps a fling with the housekeeper ala Schwarzenegger? Stepson? I have too many questions and not enough answers.

His wife couldn't be of Hispanic descent?

Liked the shoot out at the end but that was about it. I also didn't have a problem with the boyfriend escaping through the woods since the teacher was blocking the door talking to that student.
I will say that right now the biggest problem I have with this series so far is it's just....boring. Carter is a terrible lead, none of the other characters are interesting(I honestly couldn't tell you a single characters name outside of Carter) and it feels more like 24:Lazy Cash Grab then the 24 that was one of my favorite series.

Another crapfest. So many ridiculous developments, even for 24. Showed such promise in the premiere. But at least we know something cool is coming.

It's more the age thing that I find perplexing. Some actors don't look their age and can pass as younger than they really are but Jimmy Smits ain't one of them so it's hard to explain away the fact that his dad is a whopping eight years older than him.

Blue Bloods on CBS does the same thing. Tom Selleck is 72 and Len Cariou, who plays his Dad, is only 5 years older than him.

I'm a huge 24 fan. I was not particularly opposed to continuing the franchise outside of Jack Bauer. It could actually be interesting to see a brand new cast every season. But this is pretty freaking bad.

The thing I loved about 24 was that Jack Bauer was a badass, trained spy and that he would do ANYTHING to prevent the terrorists from accomplishing their goals. Carter is a trained soldier, but not a spy, and he doesn't have the same experience and motivation as Bauer did. There's no "get me a hacksaw" moment, no "holy shit I can't believe he did that to that bad guy!" reaction. It's an ok action series, but it's not the 24 I loved.
